Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.620 RC1 Test

Rasbats, I can't find any arm64 packages in that url. In fact I can't find them for armhf -arm32- either. I don't use any PPA. I build directly from the sources.

Dave, I completely agree with you. It was a surprise about the 64 bit version. The thing is that, after trying it, it works smoother than the 32 bit version and that's why I switched to it.

I'm in no hurry about the plugins. The ones I'm interested in, I've already built them myself. But not having any in the list I never know if the new part related to the plugin manager works well or not in the beta. It wouldn't be bad to put even one or two of them to see how the plugin manager behaves.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.620 RC1 Test

I did try to install some of my plugins without success, so I turn back to 5.1.620 version. It did requested me an incompatile version in UNIX.

Hi P,

I'am also running the 64 RaspiOS for some time and it works very well, stable and fast.

If you look at the new plugin manager. The folders are empty.

But is you remove the Opencpn.conf first then the plugins are shown in the plugin manager folders. Cause of this behaviour ?

I'am running now the Oesenc charts with the dongle with the Oesenc plugin 4.2.12

Verkerkbr... it's not like that in my case. Even if I delete the configuration file and start with a clean opencpn the plugin list is still empty.

It's true that some time ago, in the previous beta there were plugins in the list but for some time now no longer.

I suppose that the ones that appeared before were versions for 32 bit and that's why they gave compatibility error frequently. Now none of them appeared and so I assumed that they had already separated into two branches and that the 64 bit one remained empty for now as Dave seems to confirm.

Regarding the oesENC plugin, as I told you I have installed the version compiled by me and it seems to work but when I introduce my old credentials then opencpn crashes. I don't use the dongle. I do it just for experimental purposes. It is not very relevant for me at the moment.

Hi Pinquino,

this is very strange. I'am using the Oesenc plugin 4.2.12. installed from the plugins.

The wind plugin works. Also the Instrument panel.

I'am using the latest OpenCPN 5.1.612 arm64

Using the latest V8 kernel. 5.4.49-V8+

The OpenPlotter options, like SignalK install, works. Not yet all, but most options allready work.

SignalK is running.

Not working is the Realvnc server. Is not yet available from RealVNC. They are working on it for a RaspiOs version.

Regards,

Bram

Bram/Penguino...

What exact builds of OCPN 5.1.xxx are you using?
Locally built from github, or .deb install from some other source?
Please be very specific.....

Thanks
Dave

Will you do a search for that file, and report where it is found?

Also, your screenshot is very "funny". The chart selector bar at the bottom is very small... Is this normal for your system? btw, What is your system?

Thanks
Dave
Hi Dave,
Apologies for the delay in answering.

There are multiple copies of "ocpn-plugins.xml" on my system. 1 each in:
C:\ProgramData\opencpn
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\cache\metadata
And in each of the C:\Program Files (x86)\ directories for each beta version.
They vary in size between 44 bytes and 170KB - the larger ones being in the first two directories listed above.

The system from which the screenshot was taken is a MS Surface Book 2 so has a pretty high definition screen. It's running Windows 10 Version 1903... The chart selector bar is smaller than usual.

Cheers
Ted

Hi Dave,

I'am using nothing special, but only the latest version from the ppa bdcat.

Version shows as 5.1.612.

At first the plugin folders were empty. But after removing the opencpn.conf.
Then the new plugin manager was available with most of the plugins working.

Also the Oesenc plugin 4.2.12 was available for use with my dongle and present Oesenc charts.

I have not checked what was the difference between config1 and config2

Added the OpenPlotter additions and most of the apps runs including the SignalK server.

Here you can see the plugin manager.

The RaspiOS works perfect. Latest kernel 5.4.49-V8+

Bram

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.620 RC1 Test

With 5.1.620 all is OK but not with 5.1.621.
None of my plugins are present and working.
What as change? and Why.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.1.620 RC1 Test

Is it possible, when updating the plugin catalog, that it says "Catalog update successful... There are no new updates" or "Catalog update successful. Updates are available"? I wouldn't want it to auto update automatically, but it would be cool to know whether or not I need to look for and decide on updates or just click ok and be done without worry.

The icons for the installed plug-ins do show the status. Here for example there exists an update for VDR:
