What charts?

Hi Dave,

the lock-up with scaling of the system is only by the Dutch ENC Charts Delta and Waddenzee.

With OpenGL switched on.

These free charts are issued by the Dutch Water Authority Rijkwaterstaat for the fast changing tidal area.

Charts are available with the Chart Downloader.

Attached is the last part of the logfile.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.10 Released

Several users already reported on FB that OpenCPN 5.10.0 freezes with o-charts. On pi5 Debian version of OpenCPN.

Thanks

mrouch...
We do not follow FB for OCPN bug reporting.
If you can bring some details here, it would be helpful.
Thanks
Dave

I have tested this today, no problem.
Is there any way to get more information from FB users who have trouble?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.10 Released

Grib drop down menu in ver 5.10 on Win 10 has a few extra options - Project Position, Course. & Speed.
Is there an option to these these and reduce the size of the menu?

Regards,

Maelruan

The problem seems to be the preparing of the dutch RWS charts.

The first 3 stages it works well. Then the systems seems to lock-up with a message: charts X preparing. This took a while and sometimes the charts scale changes.

Then further changing to scale (minus) and the problem starts again. preparing charts X and Y etc.

The solution seems to be preparing all the chart fragments at the start of a new set.

Chart preparing was also in earlier versions. But then at the start of an new set was the message.

Preparing, 1, 2,3, 4 etc.

If I look at the steps on my Linux MINT system. I see different steps then on the RPI4 (Flatpak)

Steps on the Mint 64AMD are then 1:1800 > 1:3500 > 1:700 . Not 1:4000 on the RPI4.?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.10 Released

It is 1:40000 One zero missing in my comment. Next step on the Pi 1:79000

But there is a difference between the well working version the Mint and the RPI with the scale steps.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.10 Released

Hi Hakan,

did prepare all ENC Charts and then force Full Database Rebuild.

Does not help, Locks-up at 1:40000. System Ubuntu.

Wait (O not responding) appears and no further sign of action. Then suddenly scale 1:79000 appears. With the next (minus) step Wait again and the O screen disappears within a short time.

Bram...

I have been investigating also.
Do you see the same effect for other inland ENCs, for instance German rivers (e.g.Rhine) ?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.10 Released

Hi Dave,

I have just tested the charts of the Rhein river (Germany site Elwis). These are not ENC charts but IENC Inland ENC charts. No problem here with scaling up-and down. This is the standard format of the main rivers in Europe.

But the Dutch charts Zeeland (Delta area) and Waddenzee are ENC charts and not IENC.

These charts have the same detailed data like sea ENC's.
