Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Mint 17-19.3 can not use them. But Mint 20 uses opencpn version 5.2.0.8-0~focal1 which does have the have the plugins.

While Mint 20 might solve this problem, there are other issues. There is a discussion in https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/issues/2011 which basically boils down to that until someone sets up a PPA with Mint-specific .deb packages the only supported solution is using flatpak.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

I thought during the beta there was some discussion about the quality of data symbol.

How can I setup OpenCPN to see those symbols?
There was something with 'User Standard'+ all items was not enough and one needed 'All' instead of 'User Standard'.
However I can't see the QoD symbol and I can't seem to find an option to make it visible. I tried:

Opencpn 5.2.0.8-0-focal1 (x86_64) on Debian 10 Bullseye/Sid
Opencpn 5.2.0.8-0-focal1 (arm64) on Ubuntu 20.04 Focal
Opencpn 5.2.0.0+4d956e1 (flatpak) on Debian 10 Bullseye/Sid

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

There has been a problem with the built in plugins for users with Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial or older versions. The default plugins did not show up in the plugin list.
This has now been fixed. Please update your installation from the PPA.

All..

As Thomas reports. The corrected xenial and trusty build versions are 5.2.0.9, available in the production PPA now.

Thanks

I can confirm, bulitin plugins are now found but the rest do not show.

I can update the pi catalog with success. "ocpn-plugins.xml" get updated and contains info about plugins but do not appear in the settings.

see FS2690

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

The plugins-not-found problem on Mint 20 is basically https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/issues/1997, long discussion. The basic message is that the Ubuntu packages are not fully supported on Mint, in particular Mint 20.

One remedy for this specific problem is the manual configuration described in https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/i...ment-663875839

The supported alternative is to use flatpak.

I had another look at the 16.04 box I have access to.
All plugins through the new plugin manager are available.
Plugins installed the traditional way through deb packages (synaptic), does not show at all in the plugin tab.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

hm... the legacy .deb-packaged plugins should certainly be visible. Could you please list the plugins you have installed using synaptic and also submit the logfile after starting opencpn.

If you want, please feel free to file an issue at https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN with said info -- it's easier to track and handle such issues there.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

After spending some time on the 16.04 box, I have to backtrack on my previous statement. There is no general problem with legacy deb packages.

What it boiled down to was that Climatology and Shipdriver don't load properly due to unrecognized symbols, but that is a dependency problem, not a general problem.

Sorry!

Regarding Legacy DEB packages: Please list github source and branch or cloudsmith repository and file if you can.
NOTE: There are current deb packages in the cloudsmith repository.
For Climatology see Cloudsmith opencpn/climatology-prod search [opencpn*1.4.15.0] for deb files. Have you tested one of these?

This particular Xenial installation only has plain vanilla PPA packages. It's hardly ever used and has just been auto updated.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Toolbar Menu Hamburger floats instead of opening in opencpn-msvc_5.2.0+2349.4d956e1 versus opencpn_5.0.0+9065270

On a touch screen windows device the collapsed toolbar hamburger just wants to float around and follow my finger on 5.2. Reverting to 5.0 it behaves by opening the toolbar menu.

What should I try to fix it?
