Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

juancho..
Or do you refer to the not installed but available plugins with a package icon?
For these the ticked status box are indicated availability. Hoover the mouse for the help text and you'll see. But if so I can agree it may be confusing the same status symbol is used for an available plugin as for a installed.

No ... I got some plugins already installed and working !! like tactics, VDR, weatherRouting, VFkaps, Photolayer ... and some more, I have had installed before. This with an install from scratch as described above ... of course WMM, Dashboard, Grib and Chart Downloader as expected.

I could uninstall the one I did not want through the plugin manager, but this sounds very rare !

Coming back to my very first point, the time to start OCPN, the time to start suddenly increased when I added a signalK connection. 2 to 4 sec. without a configured connection, 10 to 15 sec. with a configured signalK connection.

"suddenly increased when I added a signalK connection"

Well, as we say, "there's your trouble..."

SignalK uses auto-discovery by default, and this can be slow, depending on the configuration of the sK server.
If you know the fixed IP of the sK server, you may like to try disabling auto-discovery for that connection, and using the specific known IP of the server. Of course, this means that your server needs to be configured for static IP.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Another quick question ...
I would like to decrease the chart zooming factor steps, I mean the zooming for "one click" on + or - chart zoom.
I have the feeling, I did it on my previous install, I don't find it anymore.
Hope to clear enough...

The text below is found here: https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/about/ver520.html

ZOOM BUTTONS SETTING
A new setting changes how much the zoom buttons adjust the zoom.
It requires a manual edit of the opencpn.ini(conf) file.

Code:
[Settings]
  .......
PlusMinusZoomFactor=2
The default is 2.

Well, I tried (1.5), it doesn't work. Stopped OCPN, changed setting, save and restart OCPN.
I put it back to 2, zoom is not available any more from the keyboard keys + and -, zoom is still available through the mouse wheel.

Is there anything wrong ?

re: PlusMinusZoomFactor-
Yes I can confirm the scenario you describe on Win10.

Change the factor to 1.5 and start O. Then a +/- operation is working once but after that not any more.

But if I switch off the "Options->Display->Controls[ ]Smooth Panning/Zooming" the "+"/"-" keys are working again.

And if I then change back to PlusMinusZoomFactor=2 everything works as usual for me. (You didn't use Word or any other word processor to edit the file I suppose? Try "Notepad++" if you're on Windows)

@bdbcat or @all. Any more comments?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Thanks, I will try later.
I confirm I use a proper text editor (Not MS WORD or equivalent).
In fact, I was looking to change the zoom factor for the mouse wheel, I suppose this is the right parameter ?

All...
This parameter "PlusMinusZoomFactor" accepts integer values only. Behavior with "1.5" is undefined.

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Hi all, thanks for the great job on 5.2!

A minor gripe though:
On my laptop I have a hi-res screen, set to scale 225% (300 is recommended). If I set the chart object scale factor to '0'(default), buoys and other objects are near invisibly small. When I set it bigger, the current indicator 'diamond' gets excessively large. Seems they scale up at a different rate than the rest?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

This resolution creep has been with us for awhile. We want to be able to work with low resolution low power rpi and with high res too, but the high res keeps changing. For the time being you could change the resolution of your display. I did that with the surface pro 3 for awhile, until Dave had a chance to reconfigure the settings.

Your point about the current indicator is also good. Would you make a Tracker request for that? also for the higher resolution. Thanks.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

I have upgraded a Mac to version 5.2 from 5.0 successfully, but I am having trouble upgrading on a Raspberry Pi 4 running linux 10 Buster. When I follow the Raspberry Pi 2/3/4 instructions I get the message "opencpn is already the newest version (5.0.0-0-bionic1)". Do I need to uninstall 5.0 first? Thank you.

No!
Sounds like your ppa is not properly updated. Check again against https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...spberrypi_rpi2
