Thanks 5.2 downloaded now i have no internet access on my pc and downloaded the plugins at home and installed as usual now on the dropdown bar it show a puzzle like icon and not the icon of the plugin how do i fix this or download plugins to install with plugin manager.

For the life of me I can’t get this to run. On a 2009 Mac mini running OSX 10.11.6 it crashes on startup, looks like somewhere in the cairo lib. Re-installed 4.0.0 and that works fine, deleted it and the data directory, went back to 5.2, rebooted the Mac and crashes on startup. Nothing displayed, other than the crash report.

I have been using OpenCpn and OpenPlotter for a while now and have had a difficult time getting things to work with both serial (Nmea from instruments) and I2C inputs (GY91). I would like to try a clean installation of Opencpn on my R Pi 3+ but have been unable to get it to load and work. I used your directions in your manual for R Pi to no avail. Are there a set of loading instructions that work?

I am seeing version 5.2 fail as of this evening - I believe Windows 10 did an update/reboot, as I came back on watch and was at login screen. Now when I launch can only start in safe mode no plugins.

Start with no OpenGL also crashes about 10 seconds after program opens.


Saw these as new packages.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 14.26.28720 - I uninstalled this to no effect


Not sure where to start - tried a reinstall of 5.2, same issue then uninstall/reinstall, but kept directory and files - same issue.

Please try:
1. Edit config file, disable all plugins. Save config file. Start OCPN. If it starts and runs normally, start enabling plugins one-by-one, to identify the culprit.


2. If that does not work, then delete (or rename) the config file. This will force OCPN to start as though it is a virgin installation.

El Capitane (10.11) should work. I don't know however how the official version of OCPN 5.2 was compiled for macOS by the developers. You might have a chance to rename the file opencpn.ini at your home directory ~/opencpn/ so at next start of 5.2 OCPN will create a new file opencpn.ini

Isolated it to the Tactics plugin, reinstalled it and seems to all be back to normal now albeit merged with Dashboard.

I don't have an ~/opencpn directory and the only opencpn.ini file I can find is in ..../Library/Preferences/
I tried renaming that one and restarting OpenCPN but got the same behaviour.
I've also tried creating an ~/opencpn directory manually, same result.

Thanks for the new opencpn version.
I have some trouble with gps recievers.
Version 4.8.6 works fine with NL-8002u.
Version 5.2 goes on and off with NL-8002u.
Version 5.2 works fine with NL-442u (so does 4.8.6).
I have attached some files with screenshots and gps datasheets.
I have 3 logfiles but to big to attache; what tot do.

OK, so I've tried deleting the old installations and installing 5.0.1 followed by 5.2.0, same issue. Deleted OpenCPN.ini from Preferences/opencpn dir, same issue.

5.0.1 works though :-)
