Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Hi Dave and Team,
Thanks for all the hard work....
A couple of questions though:
I am unable to select/deselect User Standard Objects in the Vector Chart Display tab of the Settings system. This occurs for OpenCPN installations under both Windows 10 and Ubuntu. I have tried deleting the configuration files in both cases without effect. Any suggestions?
Is there any way I can get the existing PyPilot plug-in to work under 5.2.0?
Otherwise, all looks good pending real navigational use!
Cheers
Ted

Ted..
re: "User standard"

There's a change implemented in 5.2. You first have to select display category "User Standard" in the "Hamburger menu" and then enter Options-Charts-Vector chart display. Now all selections would be active and not greyed out.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Hello Dave,

I tested the different versions compiled for Windows MSCV after the initial 5.2 version. I have not found any problem to date.

Some time ago, I had made changes in the French language file on Crowdin, prior to the final release of the initial version of 5.2. These changes have not been taken into account. Too bad ... But so is life. ....

If you need to release a 5.2.xxxx version, then don't forget to take into account the current contents of the crowdin.

On the French forum Hisse-et-oh, the criticisms remain unimportant for the Windows version. Just the perennial problem with the GlobalSat BU 353 and BU 354 GPS which are not easily usable. The driver problems remain present under W10.

On the other hand, I observe cries and fury concerning the Linux versions ... Not having tested these versions, I do not know what to say about them.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Hi
I am sure the dev team knows but for others having problem with opencpn 5.2 and Linux focal.
If using fractional scaling 200% instead of user interface scale 200% in display settings everything works as it should and you dont have to change resolution to half what recomended for your screen.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Since someone pointed me to it I found a strange problem:
There is no stable release of OpenCPN for many Linux systems.

In the OpenCPN PPA there is no 5.0.0 version anymore, but for most distributions there is also no 5.2.0 version. The download page from OpenCPN points to https://launchpad.net/~opencpn/+archive/ubuntu/opencpn but on that location only a version for Xenial and Focal are available.

Something went terribly wrong with the packages?
The policy can't be that average users are forced to download from the bdbcat PPA.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

hreuver...
The OpenCPN Release PPA has been under some maintenance in the last 24 hours, with slow weekend response from the PPA maintainers, and some bandwidth limitations on my side.

All versions should be back up shortly.

With worldwide user base, there is no good time to do heavy repo maintenance...

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

I was afraid it was something like that.

I saw some cleaning up also took place in the flatpak version where the location of the repo has changed (hopefully to the correct location for the coming year).

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

I had v5.0 with some MBTiled charts made using SAS Planet. After upgrading to v5.2 Open CPN these files now fail to load.
Do I need to register a bug to get this sorted as the previous MBtiled charts were great and it's definetly a hude loss not to have them.
Perhaps there is more debugging that an be done hre.

First step in debugging:
Please post your logfile from OCPN 5.2.0

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Here are my logs concerning OpenCPN 5.2. crashes while trying to use the Konni Logbook plug-in (Please remove the .doc extension in the name of the file). Note that there is no file under ProgramData/opencpn/CrashReports.

Thank you for the fantastic work.
