One small remark.

In the Grib plugin screen there is a misalignment for the wind direction.

Only half the value of the wind direction shows in the frame.

Here is the screenprint. Wind direction is partly missing.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

When horisontally docking a dashboard, with all text fields, I am not able to reduce the size to something acceptable on lowres screens. @800x600 and the minimum covers almost 1/3 of the active window. Even @1920x1080 it is to high. Both Windows/Ubuntu.

When Navigate here or following route is active, the datafields are all blacked out, the "Highway" is moving and functional.

Compiling plugins for linux, I used to just copy the .so file to the lib folder, this doesnt work anymore, the log says plugin found, and plugin not activated, and there is no mention of it in Options/Plugins.
Is there somewhere a guide for dummies on how to do this now?

I would like to see the logfile entries concerning your locally compiled plugin, failure to load.
Thanks

Log from single startup attached, also screendump of what display looks like with minimum size docked dashboard @1024x768.

The datafields in the Active leg window is vaguely shown in the dump, they are not visible at all at the display. Sean D'Epagnie's Autopilot_route plugin is using green, much higher contrast fonts, and they are easy to see.

SamH...
1. You can change the font color in the Active leg panel (aka Console).
2. I assume the plugin problem is with engine_dashboard? Has this plugin ever worked before? What does it do?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Thanks for the update! I have one bug report:

I use this on an 8" Windows tablet (1280x800 resolution) with dual panes activated. The default OwnShip icon becomes annoyingly large for this small screen size when I am zoomed out. I use Real Scale Bitmap and want minimum screen size to be 4mm so it's smaller when I zoom out. When I go into options and set it to 4 mm it displays the size properly (4 mm) for the rest of the session and writes the 4 mm value to the .ini file upon closing the program. But upon re-launching, the program displays a 5 mm icon and then overwrites the setting to 5 mm when it closes again. It's almost like the program refuses to accept the 4 mm setting from the .ini file upon re-launching.

There is no way to get a 4 mm minimum size OwnShip to "stick". I have to re-set it to 4 mm manually each time. But this is especially annoying on a tablet, since I have no real keyboard and need to bring one up on-screen.

I'm running Windows 8.1 tablet in portable mode, with all program files on a microSD card.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Wondering if anyone else is having problems with new OpenCPN version 5.2 on Linux Mint 18.3 & 19.3. Problem is that the default plugins are not in the plugin setup page. Can update master list and see all the other plugins. Tried changing repositories from local mirror to default, tried loading from flatpak. Did not work on a dell laptop or minbox computers.Version downloaded by software manager was 5.2.0.8-0~xenial1 in all cases. Using PPA for OpenCPN. BUT 5.2 does work on Win7. I loaded latest Mint version 20 in virtualbox AND that also installed OpenCPN fine. Apparently 5.2 is not putting default plugins in the older versions of Mint where the program can find them.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Hi Dave,

I am pleased to feed back that 5.2 works fine with my Intel HD630 graphics card, unlike 5.0. Well done and many thanks to all for the effort put into 5.2.

Cheers

Huh! got curious and using your setup, it did the same thing..reset itself to 5mm. This on Linux Lite Xenial xfce...
Not an issue for me-I use the default but...interesting

Checking the code it's not a bug, it's intentional. [wxMax(g_n_ownship_min_mm, 5)] For any reason someone once decided 5 mm is the smallest accepted upon program restart. Easy change for next release if so decided. A Flyspray note?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Seems to be a couple of different "opinions" in the code.......

Code:
    if (n_ownship_min_mm <= 0 || n_ownship_min_mm > 100)
      msg += _("\n - your minimum ship icon size must be between 1 and 100 mm");
options.cpp l:7412

Needs a bit of house cleaning for the next release.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.2.0 Released

Friendly reminder to all users/testers...

Ad hoc observations regarding bugs/errors in O5.2 are greatly appreciated. Really.

But they should be followed up by Flyspray action items. Otherwise, when it comes time to release the next version of OCPN, few of these issues and points will be recalled clearly by the devs, if they are even noticed in passing.

Thanks
Dave, and the team.
