JP...
Can you show a screenshot of display problems on current master branch build?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Alpha Test #2

I'm continuing to test and I'm beginning to think that the problem may be in Windows. I see the MDNS query arrive at the Win10 machine but it does not respond.

Dave
You can see in the first shot that the letters are separated by a too large space, giving long text
This problem disappears as soon as the canvas is rotated and in this case the display is good (second shot)

The three others problems are the menus and rollovers displays (third and fourth shot)

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Alpha Test #2

JP...
I think that some of these problems relate to how new wxWidgets version handles display scaling. I expect that you have the Windows system display scale set to something greater than 100%?
As a test, will you temporarily change back to 100% display scale, and check these display problems? This will help me isolate the various issues.
Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Alpha Test #2

Dave
My windows display scale is 175%. (The recommended value is 150%, but I feel not comfortable as I don't have twenty-year-old eyes)
I tried 100% and the intermediate values (125%, 150%) and you are right, the display is correct only with 100%
But with 100%, the PC is not usable, the normal windows displays are far too small

Have you tried sending from the Linux machine to the Windows machine?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Alpha Test #2

JP,
Thanks. It's unlikely that the difference is my Win10 vs your Win11. There is not that much difference under the covers. I'll keep looking for what is stopping it from working on my machine.

Dave,
Absent other reports it looks like the problem I reported may be specific to my setup. I'll keep digging and get back to you if I find anything.

Just a question based on own experiences: Did you checked the firewall on the Win machine. All opencpn (there can be two) shall admit local traffic.
The IP "224.0.0.251" may be some mDNS question? I suppose your local net would be like 192.168.x.x

Hakan,

Yes. Firewall was the first thing I checked. There is a default rule in there to allow mDNS in and out. There is an added rule to allow OpenCPN to do the same. I also tried it with the firewall disabled for all networks. No change.

224.0.0.251 is the multicast address used by mDNS.

Windows will send the query and receive the response from the Debian machine.

Debian will send the query and it is received on Windows. My Windows machine does not respond the the query.

Other than the source IP I can see no difference in the query sent by Debian and the one sent by Windows.

Bill..
I've actually seen the same behavior on a Win10 by a friend of me. It's detected by others but no response. Hmm...?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Alpha Test #2

Tested the latest update with the route transfer:

Linux Mint AMD64 > RPI4 with Bullseye
RPI4 Bullseye > Linux Mint AMD64
LinuxMint AMD64 > RPI4 Ubuntu Kinetic

No Windows available here.

All these transfers work.

But not to my flatpak O version. This Is another OpenCPN version.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Alpha Test #2

all problems from post #5 are solved
On point 3, questions remain. When switching groups of maps in the place where ENC cells are visible, everything is displayed well. but if you move the map view to the area where the ENC cells are not visible and return back, then the ENC are not displayed, only the outlines of the cells are visible.
