Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

Hi Dave
New build from current master W11
I found some regressions in the display from the preceding build a few days ago
1) The toolbars are enormous, so are the grids values. The screenshot attached has been made with "User Interface scale factor" at 0 even at -5 they are for too big.
2) Both "Chart object scale factor" and "ENC sounding factor" react on the sounding sizing, resulting in differences in the sizing between ENC and CM93 for example.
3) Differences also in chart text sizing between ENC (o-charts) and CM93.

JP,

disable "Scaled Graphic Interface" and try again. What about the way-point icons?

Some of the scalings do only apply after a restart of OCPN.
Yes, these are regressions..

Hubert
Disabling scaled graphic interface fixs the toolbars sizing but changes nothing neither for the grid's values, nor for the soudings and chart texts.

Adjust with a different font size (9 for instance). For soundings. (les sondes).

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

Since the last update (this weekend) the added screenshot is my standard display over VNC. I assume it has something to do with o-charts, but I'm not sure.

Config:
RPi 4 8Gb
raspberry pi os 64
flatpak

Because I hoped it was something in some old settings, I completely removed everything, but unfortunately there was no difference.

I have the same problems after the update of the O-charts plugin. No text on the screen.
If I touch the T key on the keyboard the screen changes in the night-mode.

Sometimes the screen partly comes in the night mode. Touching the T key again then the day mode screen is bank.

This is on the Fedora Rawhide for RPI4.

With version of the plugin 2.0.0.24 the screen appears normal. Updating the o-charts plugin to 2.0.0.25 then the problem appears.

Touching T key the day screen appears but then it is not possible to switch on the text in the right hamburger setup.

Hans...
Can you revert to o-charts 2.0.0.24 and confirm Bram's observation?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

Dave, I don't know how to do that, but removing O-Charts made OpenCPN function again, where it almost crashed before (closing it gave the popup OpenCPN was unresponsive, and should the process be killed). Even the interface is normal (and usable) again. As soon as I install O-Charts again, the maps become black and the interface becomes unresponsive.

To revert, you may import this:

Let me know how this goes.
Good Luck

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

Hello Dave,

Today, with 5.7.1 Beta #2, (OpenCPN 5.7.1+e05722f), after updating o-chart_pi to version 2.0.0.25 and downloading version 2023/03 of the FR_UK chart set from o-charts.org, the characters of words are too small.

After changing the character size from 9 to 12 then to 20 , nothing changes.

Hi DAVE,

I also did this test. Uninstalling the version 25 first. And then added the above 24 O-charts plugin.

And then system worked very well as before. It has something to do with chart text settings.

Regards,

Bram

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

When I restarted OpenCPN not all connections from signalk came back, only when I restarted the raspberry I had all data from signalk.

Since the previous version of OpenCPN crashed on signalk, this is a major improvement!

Thanks for the confirmation on o-charts 2.0.0.24
Something changed in 25, and I'll track it down.

Dave

Statusbar Plugin

Although this seems obvious, I just point out that in the scale of the numbering of minutes and seconds, both in Longitude and Latitude, in this case should not appear the number 60' or 60", but only go up to 59'or 59", and the next numbering again would be 00' or 00".

In Longitude, the numbering limit reaching exactly 180°, only E or W would be changed.

Thanks again
