Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

I am new to trying OpenCPN, so excuse these dumb questions...
1. Is there a manuak?
2. What are the green boxes at the bottom of the screen
3. Is there a fast way to load all the charts from a region? Dowloading them put groups into separate directories (MAC) each of which has to be separately added...

I hope not many more will be forthcoming.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

Andy..
Welcome to OpenCPN.
There is a inbound manual in O. Se the (left) Tool with a [?]. Not really up to date though. Especially not with this Beta.
Or visit OpenCPN and use the upper links menu to the Manual.
The boxes are called "Chart bars" and indicates chart files visible on screen. Different colors for different chart types. "Mouse over" one to see and click to activate.
The Mac issue I don't recognize. (I use Win) Here are more people with knowledge for sure coming up.

Just the parent directory of all those separate ones, OpenCpn will figure it out from there.

Good Luck,

PI4 4GB Debian SID/Bookworm armhf (32bit). CAN-hat with CAN0 and CAN1. Can use signalk, TwoCanPlugin or native O to read N2K data.

Or do you want/need a list of all the N183/N2k devices on my boat?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

Still having issues with the chart bar. I can't select a chart anymore with the new Beta versions. I get a large (green scroll) arrow when I move my cursor over the chart bar. Pressing moves the map instead of selecting a different chart.

Also, all the CM93 "ENC text" is so small on the chart I can't read them. Tried adjusting the sizes, but can only get the soundings to change size.

Finally when using the measuring tool to measure distance and direction, the font is so small I can't read anything. Can't find any way to adjust the size.

Hope you guys can look into this.

PS. Running MacBook Pro, Montery 12.6.2

LeaseOnLife...

Thanks for the system info. That is all I needed.

We are investigating the 19 minute WindHistory reset, comparing results from various systems.

More later

O 5.7.1 current master and O-Chart 2.0.0.22
spaces between characters are still too wide in both chart texts and soundings

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

JP,

this happens with Scaled UserInterface at Windows. The higher the scaling the larger the spacing. Seen here with W10 and W11.

Hi Dave,

I'm using Ubuntu 22.04, and the o-charts plugin version stays at 1.0.29.0. Can it be that it was not built for all platforms?

Steef...
The o-charts_pi v2.xxx is meant for wxWidgets v 32. This is in turn only available for Ubuntu 22.04 and later.

There are no significant functional differences between o-charts v1 and v2. Mainly performance improvements.

Thanks for your answer. I know the scaled interface problem with W10/11.
This has been fixed in the core (CM93 for example)
Would it be possible to do the same in the plugin ?

JP..
As far as I know for the Beta "pure" ENC sounding texts are adjusted and for o-charts next step is to copy the same adjustments when finalized.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #2

Its not just soundings - all texts have an erroneous spacing for those Windows systems.
S-63 we shall see.
