You are correct, see screenshot. But mbtiles with smaller zoom levels show the outline better, see the stepped outline. I am sure there is a reason for that, ie preserve resources. It does pain me a bit, I find z18 a good compromise to find sand patches between rocks in anchorages. I will send you the mbtile as email, .

Edit: file is too big to send=116MBytes. Let me know if you need/want it and I upload it to one of the fileshare sites

It is my own harmonic file and I have to my knowledge 3 stations doing the same. They work perfectly in OpenCPN 5.6.2 and other 5,7.1 but not in your last version OpenCPN 5.7.1+71ffe26. the here is the screen shot for Quebec. I can let you have the harmonic file and idx but not for publishing. Via your email off course.

You are exactly correct, this is for performance reasons, it is WAY too costly to calculate the exact outline from the most detailed zoom levels (we have been there during the initial mbtiles implementation a couple of versions back, that's why we did this)

that may well be, I have not seen that behavior on PI4-armhf-bookworm-xfce. I will test the x64 on bookworm/xfce for a while.

Different display of the Menu depending on the scale of the screen> 100%
At 100% zoom, the menu is displayed correctly. fonts are applied to it and the color changes during night mode.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #4

Hello Dave,
I have :

- Installed beta 4 in parallel.

- Updated the plugins, and in particular the o-charts ver ...28.

See the first three screenshots. There are two "apparent instances" of o-charts_pi.

But, the first opens a blank page and the second caused OpenCPN to crash.

After restarting OpenCPN, no more problem. I was able to update the FR-UK nautical chart set.

Here join my log files. Too big, so .zip en then .doc. SOrry, not easy.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #4

Possibly an edge case.

On Linux with multiple socketCAN interfaces defined (eg. vcan0, vcan1), the following new API's do not differentiate between the different NMEA 2000 connections.
Code:
// Setup the NMEA 2000 Network interface
std::vector<DriverHandle> activeDrivers = GetActiveDrivers();
// Enumerate the drivers and populate the List Box
for (auto const& activeDriver : activeDrivers) {
	for (auto const& driver : GetAttributes(activeDriver)) {
        ......
In this example each value returned from GetActiveDrivers has the value
Code:
nmea2000!@!socketCAN
I would expect the returned value is something like:
Code:
nmea2000!@!vcan0
And the values returned from GetAttributes() are kind of meaningless:
Code:
protocol, nmea2000
I can confirm that the following code writes onto the NMEA 2000 onto the network correctly, albeit with nmea2000!@!socketCAN as the value for the handle, only on presumably the first defined interface, in this case vcan0.
Code:
// Transmit an ISO Request for PGN 60928 (Address Claim)
CommDriverResult result;
std::vector<uint8_t> payload;
payload.push_back(60928 & 0xFF);
payload.push_back((60928 >> 8) & 0xFF);
payload.push_back((60928 >> 16) & 0xFF);
auto sharedPointer = std::make_shared<std::vector<uint8_t> >(std::move(payload));
result = WriteCommDriverN2K(driverHandle, 59904, 255, 5, sharedPointer);
Have yet to test whether the address claim dance and transmission of multi-frame fast messages are performed correctly

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #4

Tactics 1.0.35 trial - Problem: the fontdata is too small. Solution set fontdata to much larger(like 28)

Questions:

Is the closest we can Zoom into 1:800 ?
Is there another way to keep the boat centered, other than activate a route or waypoint?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.7.1 Beta Test #4

Hello, Dave, about Grib plugin :

1° I had already asked the question concerning the possibility either of downloading grib files by SAILDOC, or by Zygrib by providing the login and a user code with a validity period of two months.

It's currently not possible to get this type of code and no one answers my questions about it on the old zygrib forum.

It would therefore be necessary, for the future version 5.6.8, to modify this by leaving only the possibility of obtaining Grib files by SAILDOC.

2° It would also be nice if the files provided by OpenSkyron, through the website https://openskiron.org/en/openwrf are accessible directly by the Grib plugin for all of Western Europe. Can we hope for it?

Thank by advance. Gilletarom.

Without tweaks, Yes!
Tweak: In config file: [Settings] add/set: MaxZoomScale=800 or what you want "up" to 50. (1:50)

?? And you're not navigating so Autofollow will fit?

Tactics plugin will be discussed there I suppose.

Thanks.

Yes, Autofollow! I can't find it. Looked under Charts, User, Ship.

Found it. Upper left, menubar, navigate select autofollow, or Ctrl-A

Back to this: Debian Bookworm x64 xfce does not show the problems mentioned. I do hope KDE/Plasma will be supported

Xfce has some funky z-stacking problems though: newly opened dialogs sometimes appear 'inactive' = greyed out until one hits a greyed-out button, then the dialog turns active.
