Like I said there are more advanced features and setups. But it is a small percentage of boaters that use or want those features. If the goal is simply to get NMEA2000 bus data unto one or multiple computers, SignalK isn't necessary at all, and adds a lot of complexity.

If he hasn't bought something already, a YDWG-2 will connect the NMEA bus to openCPN, iPads, phones, and even does necessary translations for OpenCPN to run an autopilot. Super simple, virtually no setup.

If you want a completely connected boat, integrating everything electronic, even things that are not NMEA2000 into a single data stream, then SignalK does that.

mgouch...

Sorry, my bad. I read "toolbar", where you said "menubar".
You are correct, the menubar is by default "off", can be enable in config file.

Thanks.
Dave

@ZUZA: To confirm, do you mean "menubar" or "toolbar"?

Possibly something leftover in plugins directory?

Anything you can do to isolate the problem would sure be useful.
Thanks

ZUZA...
Is this pix after ProgramData/opencpn folder renamed, and O58 re-installed?

The problem shows up the same way in both options:

1 - Making the recommended change.

2 - Installing normally over 5.6.2, but in this case only the settings of the statusbar change between the original form programmed in 5.6.2 and the default form.

In short, almost nothing changes in both situations, that is, both fluttering menus with the buttons, simply do not appear.

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.0 Released

Hi all,

does anyone had this behaviour?

updated to 5.8 no problem, some plugin not yet working because still not updated, not big deal, I can wait.
everything fine only the reported custom tide files not kept after first start, but as somebody in ancient times said "know error it isn't an error", inserted in proper site the reference to tides and start to update the plugin not installed.

all then via plugin manager:
o-charts is one of then, installed and applied and charts displayed again.

installed "ObjSearch" plugin installed, no problem, installed, click on apply and oops o-charts disappeared from the program.
what I did I just go to o-chart plugin click on it and click on apply and charts came to the screen again.

maybe I should have to call to a witch hunter?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.0 Released

Great job guys - Thanks for your great work.
Currently i'm not able to use the DRAW plugin - seems missing in the Mastercatalog.
Therefore I'm further not able to use exclusion zones in the weather routing plugin.

I assume it will come soon that we can further use that feature - or will this functionality disapear?
Thanks
Michi

Michi...

AFAIK, Jon, the author of the draw plugin is currently away sailing, so the new release for O5.8 will probably have some delay.

Dave

If or when you find out what are the old plugins that can interfere with the installation of this OpenCPN update, please notify, because then I could uninstall them, and reinstall the new OpenCPN, because in my case there are countless directories of nautical charts, as well as the respective groups of these charts, in addition of course to many other previously existing configurations and redoing everything would be an inglorious task.

Thank you

Obrigado

Will you please post the OCPN logfile of a failing instance of OCPN58?

Thanks

I used a VPN connecting through USA and can now open the site.

Both Firefox and Edge would not open it directly from the Philippines.

Thanks, Terry

OpenCPN should just use github CDN instead of paying for own hosting
