You might have misunderstood the notice. It says not to use Windows at all to prevend problems.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.2 Released

Occasionally OpenCpn 5.8.2 draws the bottom right bar (the one with the hamburger in it) double height, a restart of OpenCpn usually cures it. Windows 11 pro. I had never seen this behaviour with earlier versions.

Thanks,

Aedan

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.2 Released

I'm currently running 5.6.2 on MacOS 13.4. Should I be installing 5.8.2 on top of the previous version? Just download and run installer?

Hi there and - in full accord with all the others previously - THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR ALL THE WORK YOU HAVE DONE!!!

I becam aware as I "accidentally" started the update process for OpenCPN and got 5.8.0 installed. I am using Raspberry pi 4 and flatpak - after install I wanted to re-install (update) all the plugins I had and some of them just didn't show up: Weatherfax, Weatherrouting, Climatology, Watchdog etc.

In the catalog settings I see "flatpak-aarch64:22.08" - is this the corect plugin archive? It looks not very complete. can somebody help me please?

All the best,

Uwe

Hi there again....

meantime I upgraded to 5.8.2 (the above quote was for 5.8.0),

I am sorry to probably be a pain, but is there any news about the - IMHO vital plugins like Weatherfax, Pypilot,, etc. for Raspberry Pi 4 - using Flatpak - I understand, that it may take some time to get them implemented correctly. However, meantime I have received a number of catalog updates but these (Sean's) plugins are still missing. Are there any news??

I still do not see these (and other plugins when refreshing the (Master) catalog the settings still state "flatpak-aarch64:22.08".

Can somebody please help me?

Thanks a lot -

best regards, Uwe

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.2 Released

The latest update of windows 11 (22621.1778) has made to come O 5.8.2 nearly irresponsive for the first starts after update, first time was half started and nearly 20 minutes I had to kill the program and restart the computer the second time also I have to kill it after another 15 minutes of half start (o-charts was not started in both starts).

on the third attempt I try with seaclearII to just to check if there was any comms problem and it started well.
after it I started again O and was able to start after some seconds but is a little slow in response to the mouse clicks and movements over the charts.

just for your info before update windows, just in case.

Just forced the update of a W11 Home system to 22H2 (22621.1778) and 5.8.2 does run completely normal without delays or further hick-ups.
One of the plug-ins you are using going wild?

in the first two attempts o-charts was not able to load.
at last watchdogs was running in the background but alarms were quite sluggish.

now able to start in seconds but sometimes drag the chart with mouse is not instantaneous.

computer is Snapdragon 7C with 8 GB RAM (SSD HD of 128Gb), no problem of missing windows drivers (like Rpi4) and up to date o.s.

My tablet is similar but 16 GB RAM (Surface Pro X) also did the update and the first time of starting O was little slow (we're talking of seconds) but everything was fine.

really don't know what happened to the boat computer?

now at least is running more or less well.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.2 Released

Hi Rick,

sorry to bother you. Sure will look at the link, however, fyi, I am using (besidesmy Windows 11 which works fine with 5.8.2 and all the plugins) Raspberry Pi (4) bullseye and OpenCPN installed with flatpak. only the "aarch64:22.08" plugins work with that system. That archive seems not to have - for whatever reasoon -the plugins from Sean, which are definitely vital. OK.?

However, as said, I will check into the link you provided above.

Best, Uwe

Re: OpenCPN Version 5.8.2 Released

Hi Rick,

just looked at the link and read for "climatology" and I think this describes the situation for all the missing plugins which for me are not only climatology, but also celestial nav., pypilot, weatherfax, weatherrouting, watchdog, Autopilot Route...:
flatpak-aarch64-22.08-arm64 22.08 fltpk wx32 gtk3 O58 Primary ADD <--- DOES NOT EXIST

Don't know what to do from my side. Please let me know and I will try out whatever necessary, o.k.??

Best regards, Uwe

Corsair...
As always the very first step in debugging errant behavior is to disable all plugins. Add back, one-by-one, testing at each stage. Report results.
The base OCPN core has been reported (relatively) stable on all platforms.

Thanks
Dave

I also have W11 with 22H2, first installed on Mar 25 and 3 "cumulative updates" since then. Many restarts of computer (we're working on the electrical system aboard and computer goes up and down with the electrical system) And no issues. Running 4.8.2, with several plugins (but not o-charts). Windows 11 Pro
