Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

The zoom in / zoom out buttons are gone.
But also function Ctrl → en Ctrl ← or F7 and F8?

I am working on the renewed manual for O5 in Dutch and therefore it is also important to know what functions are gone.

Not only add new but also delete old .

Dave...

installs well under W10 and W8.1
The W8.1 system has S-63 charts and all runs ok.

The zoom in/out buttons are not gone, they are in the per canvas toolbar for obvious reasons of having more than one chart canvas.
F7 and F8 work just fine for me, but it is not, and never was, zoom, it switches charts, so first there must be more charts of different scales available.

@Dave
Yes, s63 plugin OK now.

@Aart K.

The document at https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/info/beta.html also contains buttons, features etc that has gone in 4.99 +.

If you find anything not mentioned, I'll be grateful.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

Had problems installing 1430 xenial via ppa on Ubuntu 16.04.03. The pc has recently had 'sudo apt-get upgrade'.

Code:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:

opencpn: Depends: libcurl3 (>= 7.16.2) but 7.47.0-1ubuntu2.12 is to be installed
Depends: libgcc1 (>= 1:4.2) but 1:6.0.1-0ubuntu1 is to be installed
Depends: libportaudio2 (>= 19+svn20101113) but 19+svn20140130-1build1 is to be installed
Depends: libstdc++6 (>= 5.2) but 5.4.0-6ubuntu1~16.04.11 is to be installed
Depends: zlib1g (>= 1:1.2.3.4) but 1:1.2.8.dfsg-2ubuntu4.1 is to be installed
Depends: opencpn-tcdata but it is not going to be installed
Depends: opencpn-gshhs-low but it is not going to be installed
Are there any steps I can take to fix this?

Mike...

Configure also the production PPA, the data packages are not copied to Dave's beta one.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

Coming from Windows, if find .travis a little different and I am not sure if it is compiling the proper version. What I've figured out so far is that Ubuntu and Linux do not rely on the wxWidgets concoction, so the same .travis file will work for an ov42 or ov50 plugin?

Is it correct to assume if we get a green check its working OK, since I haven't got linux intalled to test?

Is that about it? --Just basically use the old .travis from the earlier plugin if it had such a file?

What should I do if it doesn't? Copy the current opencpn .travis.yml and travisci_build.sh into the parent folder?

A little direction, if that is possible, would be helpful. Its running in several instances, but I'd like to know if there is something else too it, that I should be aware of.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

Yes. I think I figured some of it out....Linux is easier. just needs the right libraries, and no wxwidgets stuff, so it has more continuity to the process. PS: but any hints are most welcome.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

I'm running Kubuntu 18.04 Bionic and have tried the instructions for installing the ppa but no joy. Does anyone know how to install Opencpn on Kubuntu? These are the commands I ran...
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bdbcat/opencpn

sudo apt-get update

Then I ran...
sudo apt-get install opencpn

This what comes up...

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
opencpn : Depends: opencpn-tcdata but it is not installable
Depends: opencpn-gshhs-low but it is not installable
Recommends: xcalib but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: opencpn-doc but it is not going to be installed
Recommends: opencpn-gshhs-crude but it is not installable
Recommends: opencpn-gshhs-intermediate but it is not installable
Recommends: opencpn-gshhs-high but it is not installable
Recommends: opencpn-gshhs-full but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

Is the ppa missing these dependencies or did I do something wrong?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

You must configure both the stable (http://launchpad.net/~opencpn/+archive/opencpn) and beta PPA as there are currently no beta packages with the data dependencies.

Thank you, that worked. However the version installed is 4.99.1428 but the repository shows the latest version as 4.99.1431-0~bionic1.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

The current beta is not yet built in the PPA, when it is, you will get it automatically. And so with each that follows. Sometimes we try things during the beta test, so not everything may be consistent at all times, like what you see now.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Beta Starts

Nohal,

It makes sense they are on a per canvas basis, but I don't see them available (build 1507). I click on the --- bar on the canvas and I don't see an option to enable them. I do see a pull-down for Display Category, but it's greyed out (says standard)

Geoff.
