Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Hi Happy...

Both these threads are recent and just two pages long, so they are not really a main Tides and Currents thread, but why not use one of them to continue the discussion?

P_dub, how can all your tide stations and data get included in O? ....or am I misunderstanding something?

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

all you have to do is change the files Harmonic and harmonic idx in the program for mine. That is all you have to do.

P_Dub is absolutely correct. All that has to be done is to package his files in OCPN and everybody will have a better set of files. I know that it was offered while OCPN 5 was in Beta and could easily have been incorporated for everybody's benefit then. There seems to be some resistance to this .. Not sure why?

I agree that the method of adding a tide station to a waypoint is tedious.

Most other electronic navigation programmes that I work with allow the assignment of a default tide station so that when say you are sailing in aa region with few stations you can assign the most useful station; which may not necessarily be the nearest, as a reference.

One of the things that needs to change is OCPN is a multi-selection and multi-edit feature to the gui that deals with waypoints. Working on every single waypoint individually is a PITA.

Anyway tides are I guess only of interest to us who sail where they are strong feature of navigation

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Moo, what I did in addition is to separate by area, that is you don't have a station in New Zeeland with some in Alaska and some in Europe, etc. all mix; but by country if you prefer.

Would you post a link to download your harmonics please?

Thanks, Terry

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

Dear P_Dub would you please post your files somewhere? I will most certainly use them.

Moo, I am in this category "tides are only of interest ..whne they are strong feature of navigation" - Tides in my area sometimes exceed our progress!

What about being able to pick and attach the closest tide station and choose to have that recalc eta?

I think you would need the current data to do that, right?

Due to all of the push back, I have requested closure of my feature request in the tracker.

Reflections, there is no need to withdraw it. Where is the push back?
I will vote for it if you are sure it is the right thing to do! - Surely it is not just one person that is causing your request? I believe you can close it any time you want, but perhaps you should let it be there for awhile and see what you think in a week or so! Best R.

I've already requested closure. Do with it whatever you want.

Re: OpenCPN Version 5 Released

I just downloaded opencpn 5.0 and its crashing within a minute or so. It looks great until I open the window to the full display, then the maps disappear and then it crashes. I'm using a Lenovo x1 win10 tablet The desktop icon is a white page. I re-downloaded to make sure I was getting an un corrupted version. Should I have uninstalled the old version?

Overboard,

See this post. http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2902515

You may wish to download from the link there and test if that fixes the problem. There is no need to uninstall a previous version.
