OpenCPN will not close

Hello,

After creating quite some add-on files, I suddenly realised that OpenCPN will not close after loading a text-file as add-in in OpenCPN-Draw.

As far I can see the file is build in a similar way as other files I did create, and also the size of the file is within the size of other files.

Scaling the file down to only 5 items, then the problem is solved.
So the reason for malfunctioning of OpenCPN can be the amount of text which needs to get displayed (and stored into memory), or somewhere in the file is a character which OpenCPN is not pleased with.

Attached is a file which does prevend OpenCPN to close properly.

Can anyone give some advise/solution?

Works here without problems under linux. Although the disadvantage from large textblocks in O-Draw is that you can't scroll the text, and on my screen often a part of the textblock is not readable.

Agree, that some bridges do have lots of data to display, especially railway bridges. In that case you can double-click to get the information in a scrollable window, and that solves the problem.
Normal (small text-blocks) bridges will show the data in readable blocks.
(the attached example file is just a small sub-set, of the total dataset I use)

Addition:
I did load the data in a Windows-10 environment, and the problem is not there, so it seems to be a problem in combination with Windows-7.
However I do prefer to stick to Windows-7, due to the huge amount of crashes I had before, specially in Windows-10, in combination with prolific drivers.

Re: OpenCPN will not close

Hello all,

By keep trying, I did find a by-pass:
Run OpenCPN in 'Windows-XP service pack-3' compatible mode or in 'Vista service pack-2' mode. Then the system is closing normally.

Additional info:

Even when I am running OpenCPN in a Windows-7 environment, but in 'Windows-7 compatible mode', the problem is gone ?!?!?!?!

Strange but through.
