OpenCPN Windows 10 mystery

I have downloaded and installed OpenCPN 4.8.4 on a friends Windows 10 machine, and have copied the CM93 chart directory onto it. It is refusing to pick up the charts. However, as a test I have downloaded some North America ENC charts, into the same Charts directory (directly under the users\<username>, and it is picking those up perfectly.

I have 4.8.4 with the same CM93 charts running on my Ubuntu machine with no problem.

Has anyone else seen this, and any suggestions?

PS - this version is also giving memory violation errors - i.e. seems to be buggy

To start with, please post the logfile from the problematic machine and check the permissions on the files you copied there.

What errors exactly? We haven't seen any ourselves and we haven't seen anybody but you reporting any so far.

Re: OpenCPN Windows 10 mystery

Thanks for coming back so promptly, Pavel.

Sorry, this was a false alarm, although why it happened and how I do not know. For some reason I had a bad copy of CM93, but discovered this when I started to check permissions etc. so thanks for that suggestion.

I now have it up and running - just wished I had not wasted so much time going down false alleys.

I have re-installed the software (twice) since experiencing the error - a memory violation warning, and it has not recurred since

John
