Re: OpenCPN windows corrupt? OPENGL?

Hi Kristoe,
I have seen that only once. I have done a lot of OpenCPN installations for cruiser friends. Most with average laptops, and it seems the average laptop these days easily supports OpenGL, as does the Raspberry Pi.

The one time I saw this, it was on a laptop with a very high-end graphics card--the guy had specifically bought a laptop that would do <something related to graphic-heavy design>. I believe the answer is that OpenGL support is required for displaying mbtiles, and maybe your graphics card/driver doesn't support OpenGL. You would need to do research on YOUR exact graphics device/driver and whether the manufacturer has a driver that supports OpenGL.

Unfortunately, I left my friend in that case with a non-working OpenCPN--I didn't have time to do the research and see if I could fix the issue. I told him to update his graphic driver and that should fix it, but he told me he never got it working. (but he is not very computer literate).

He was also using a computer that was in a different language--I can't remember which country, maybe Norway or Sweden. It is remotely possible that this might have something to do with it (but I doubt it).

I hope this helps a little. Please go to your system info and post what graphic device your computer has. That might help a little.

Sherry
