OpenPlotter installation

I have tryed to install OpenPlotter on a raspberry Pi 4 (32 GB SD-card)


I have tried 2 methodes:

1) Formating with SDCardFormatterv5_WinEN and then
copying the files from the openplotter_v1.0.0_noobs.ZIP


2) Flaching the files from openplotter_v1.0.0.IMG

with balenaEtcher-Setup-1.5.57.



both failed

The Raspberry4 does not work with Raspian Stretch. You have to use the Raspian Buster version. But there is still no official Buster version from OpenPlotter.

You can take the beta version of OpenPlotter 2.00.

Works great here on my Raspberry Pi 4 and Pi 3b+. However not every Item is allready working. But the main applications, like OpenCPN, SignalK are working.

I have a working image here.

I now used 2019-07-10-raspbian-buster-full
and it seams to work well

I have now instaled OpenPlotter/OpenCPN on my Rasperryan Pi
I used this method:


Use a SD-card - 16 or 32 GB (bigger cards can be problematic)

Format the SD-card with: SD Association - SD Card Formater
Installed from SDCardFormatterv5_WinENZIP - this should not be nessasary - but maybe it is.

Transfer the image (2019-07-10-raspbian-buster-full.IMG) using balenaEtcher
Installed from balenaEtcher-Setup-1.5.57.EXE.

(2019-07-10-raspbian-buster-full.IMG is found on the net - google it)

Then the SD-kortet should be ready for Raspberry Pi 4.

Installation takes about ca 20 minutter

Open the prompt (on the Pi)

sudo apt update

sudo apt install python-configparser python3-wxgtk4.0 python3-ujson whois

wget https://github.com/openplotter/openp....0.9-beta.deb+

sudo dpkg -i openplotter-settings_2.0.9-beta.deb

Open: Openplotter Settings and do the final installation of Opencpn.
