Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

Hi all (Pi developers),
We created a plugin that we were able to get compiled and installed in Linux, MacOS and Windows.
But now we'd like to also get the plugin working in a Rasberri Pi. But the documentation about compiling plugins under Raspberri Pi are not very structured at the moment and thus quite unusable as a guideline to get things compiled and "converted" into an installation-package.
Is there a an experienced Pi-developer who can help us to get things going?

If you have it installing in Linux already, are you sure it won’t install on the Pi?

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

Use ShipDriver or Testplugin frontend2 CI/cmake structure, use circleci to build and cloudsmith for deployment the submit PR to opencpn/plugins to get your multiple OS environment builds into Plugin Manager.

See the new Dev Manual This is a work in progress.

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

Thanks. That looks promising, I will start studying ;-)
At a glance I see support for four platforms (Windows, MacOS, Debian and Flatpak). No "special" mentioning of Pi-stuff?

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

My dear friend, could you please enrich us with an explanation of what leads you to believe that who ever made this "Dev Manual" does not?

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

As I understand from the manual "in development" it would simplify the "roll-out" process of plugins enormously?!
As I read it, it would be "limited" to pushing the developed code to Github and adding some documentation/metadata, after which the CI Builders would do the rest (compiling and creating uniform tar-balls) for the different platforms?

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

The OpenPlotter image comes together with the Debian Operation system.

But is you use other Linux versions or even Linux Mint AMD64.

You can install the OpenPlotter add-ons also to other systems. Not all items then work. But most of the OpenPlotter Items on diferent Linux versions are possible.

On the RPI 4 running the latest 64 bits Ubuntu Hirtute Hippoo it als works for most of the applications.

All here running with the SignalK marine dataserver software as a multiplexer and general data exchange.

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

There is a newer version in the Beta stream, 1.8.6.11, can you please try that and see if it works. If not, can you please post the opencpn log file as it sounds like there may be a library missing that the pi needs?

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

in fact, it was so simple : using Plugins Manager with Beta catalog... et hop! Draw 1.8.6.11 was installed.
I copied my ODnavobj.xml from PC/W7 to RPI4 and all seems working perfect.

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

Ah ha, Jon meant the PIM Plugin Manager "Beta Catalog" selected from the dropdown menu in PIM. Sorry, I should have realized that.
