Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

Good evening,
I have installed Opencpn on a Raspberry Pi4.

After installing the nautical charts I get the hint that I should/must install OPENGL to display the charts.
I just don't know how to do that.
Hopefully one of the forists here can help me.

Probably a piece of cake for experienced people, but I can't get any further.
I am grateful for any help.

Greetings
Karl

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

@karl
you need to activate opengl driver

raspi-config -> advanced options -> GL driver -> GL ( fake KMS)

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

Hi Karl,

what OS have you running ?

OpenGL can be switched on in OpenCPN >setup (left "Hamburger" clicken)

Display Advance and the last item is GL set this to on (hardware). No other setting.

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

I am in the middle of migrating from a pi4 running 32 bit to 64. All is well and OpenCPN runs well, however the pluging for oeRNC is missing... Odd as it's there on the 32bit pi version as well as the windows version and all other plugins including oeSENC are listed in the plugin manager. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

For RasPi 64bit you will need the Flatpack version of OpenCPN. This one carries several plug-ins as well..

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

In that case we will need to ask you for a bit of patience.

There is a major overhaul of the oeSENC and oeRNC plug-ins underway - the two will be unified into one plug-in.
The beta test is well advanced and there are only some final steps on the "production side" still missing.

If everything goes as planned (more or less), expect the launch for March, 1st.

Flatpack will then have the o-charts_pi as well in the master catalog.

Bullseye can't find TwoCan plugin (and others)

I have RPI4 with a 32-bit bullseye. I installed OpenCPN 5.6.0 and updated Master Catalog. But many (most?) plugins are not listed, including TwoCan. I see flatpak is supposed to have many more plugins, but that is limited to the 64-bit OSs.

I would try to download and import the plugin tarball, but I cannot find a repository for it, now that PIM is handling the installation.

Can I run bullseye or must I revert to buster for the full set of plugins, including TwoCan?

Re: OS Raspberry specific RPI

torrmundi....
As you see, some plugins are now available for rPI Bullseye, but not all.
You may ask the developer of any missing plugin to expedite the migration of a particular plugin to Bullseye. This should be an easy evolution. In time, all plugins will be migrated, each on their own schedule.

Or, as you say, in the meantime you may revert to Buster/32. At the moment, this is the most stable and fully field proven release for rPI.

Thanks
Dave

You can install RaspiOS 64 based on Debian Bullseye. Works very well on mu RPI with 2 GB. Then can install the basic OpenCPN, but the plugin development take some time. With every release they have to convert the plugins.

But with the flatpak setup there is only one flatpak OpenCPN version for every Linux system.

At first you to install the flatpak enviroment: sudo apt install flatpak.

And then OpenCPN 5.6 flatpak version. Then you have all the plugins available.

One size fits all. Running here in my RPI's and on my Linux Mint Umo for AMD64.

There are many other flatpak version available and also OpenCPN.

Look at Flathub and search for OpenCPN. Download (not yet install)

Go to the Downloads folder and then in the terminal: flatpak install (name of the Downloaded OpenCPN file).

Not only OpenCPN is in the flatpak version. Here also running Chromiun-browser, Libreoffice, Dolphin file manager, VLC, Evolution email etc.

The flatpak version works very well.
