Computer Lenovo with Windows 10

I attached the log with 100 NMEA sentences received from the multiplexor on COM3

Could somebody please help me out here ?

Thank you so much guys

Re: Own ship not shown on map

Hi Paul,

I'm certainly not an expert in NMEA or Opencpn, but since nobody has answered your question, I'll give it a try. I looked at your NMEA sentences and didn't recognize many of them. I tried parsing them using an NMEA decoder, ignoring the Philips string:

NMEA Decoder. Using this free tool you can decode (parse) your NMEA log.

Many of them couldn't be parsed. The ones showing your position could be, though, and the Opencpn.log shows the LL which corresponds to the NMEA sentences starting GPGGA and GPRMC. That's in a marina in the south of Arrecife. If that's not where you are, that's a different problem!

I don't know if the number of possible NMEA sentence errors could be confusing Opencpn. What I would try is to filter out everything but the sentences with your position to start. That's in Networking > Input Filtering. Try it with an input filter accepting only sentences starting with GPGGA or GPRMC. Those sentences can both be parsed and show your LL. If that works, you can try allowing some others to get through.

I don't think the error about a color not being found is a problem:
10:36:52 AM: Warning: Color not found CHDRD
I have that error and don't have that problem.

You could also check that your ship icon is default, or try the bitmap or vector ones to see if that helps.

Good luck.

Re: Own ship not shown on map

Paul...

OCPN sometimes does not process NMEA V4 tag blocks correctly.

Workaround:
Try to program your Phillips GPS receiver to output in NMEA Version 3 instead of Version 4. This should be configurable somewhere in the receiver's setting screens.

Good Luck
Dave
