Re: Plugin Threads (List)

Hello everyone,

Here is the full list of plugins that I know. There are more than that given in the post #106 of this thread. This list is shown in the attached screen print.

I worked on the translation of these plugins. But before putting online translations, I need some guidance.

Can someone answer these two questions:
1 What are those completely abandoned?
2 What is the difference there is between watchdog and watchman?

None. I will take care of the ones missing maintainers at the time of the next stable OpenCPN release. Until then I will not have time to do anything though (and it includes my own plugins).

There is no difference, watchman was later renamed to watchdog (=watchman dos not exist anymore).

See VisitmyHarbors it is by Rasbats tides for UK and europe. Not free because data is not free, but plugin is for OpenCpn. Mike does a good job and has helped and contributed regularly to plugin development in many ways.

But I just realized that I know and I had offered him my help for the translation into French of his work. I also work as beta tester for him.

I will continue.

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

Dear OpenCPNers,

With the good progress off the "Sean's optimium branch merge" thread, I take the opportunity to try to find volounteers for these 3 orphans plugings :

pi - Logbook Konni
pi - Polars Konni
pi - Findit Konni

Thanks for your collaboration.

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

Who is responsible for the nv-charts plugin?

Several users report it does not work anymore with newer NV charts like the FR3 and FR4 chart sets.

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

Wow, check out the new Opencpn Downloads Page on Opencpn.org
The plugins are now installer.exe's and much easier to install. Pavel has changed and updated the page and he and Sean have been very busy updating the plugins. Thank you both! -a great example of the power of cooperative programming.

--Please join the team of active Opencpn 3.3.1824 beta testers to help bring this program quickly to the stable Version that bdcat envisions! It's going to take some effort and cooperation, and your help is needed. "Parallel" Install the appropriate beta version at the bottom of this page Download OpenCPN | Official OpenCPN Homepage and join the http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...-30929-79.html thread, posting your experiences / problems. Thank you.

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

If no one objects I might take over polar_pi. Last time my suggestions were rejected, but I have the intention to:
  1. Automatically generate polars from data taken while underway.
  2. Allow better user interaction of polars, and improve display.
  3. Integrate with weather routing plugin.

Re: Plugin Threads (List)

Is there a basic 'how to' someplace on findit? I am having difficulty understanding the basic thought process behind that plugin.

No there is not. There are threads that discuss Konni's Logbook and Findit. This is a very comprehensive system (my impression) geared towards maintaining a boat logbook. I suggest reading through the threads and posts to understand the development and authors intent. There may be other threads that I have not found with my search.

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...tu-100552.html

Konni is an excellent programmer, but had to stop for health reasons I believe. Occasionally he will add another plugin, sort of out of the blue, just as he did with Polar, which was a very nice gift that Sean is going integrate with the weather_routing plugin.

Since you will probably be learning more about findit, which is a tool for finding things in a boat database, which I believe is stored in logbook konni, it would be very helpful if you would write a description and details about use in the manual, under plugins, here.

Plugins | Official OpenCPN Homepage

You should register on opencpn.org and then you'll be able to add a child page for Logbook Konni, and another page for Findit Konni. That would be a great contribution to the program because no one has done that yet.

Thank you.
