Problem installing openCPN 3. version

Trying to install openCPN v.3.0 on Windows7. After downloading it (Mozilla),saving to C drive and going thru the installation process which seems to complete as I get to the 'finish' screen.
Then when I try to open it using the desktop icon I get a message box that says: open cpn.exe has stopped working.
Windows can check online for a solution to the problem the next time you go online.
Then there are 2 options: #1 check online for solution later and close program or # 2 Close program

Problem Signature: Problem event name is APPCrash and there is a list of other stuff that I don't understand.

Can be a bit tricky to figure out what's going ion since it's something particular to your machine. First things to do:

- Reset your configuration to default by removing C:\ProgramData\opencpn\opencpn.ini and all the navobj...xml files in the same folder. If you have a lot of setup you don't want to loose you can move them somewhere else and try moving back once program is working.

- Reboot your machine and try OCPN as the first program you start after boot (to make sure it's not crashing because some other program messed up your computer)

- If still crashing, post that "other stuff" here, maybe it gives more info if we're lucky.

Thank you so much for getting back so quickly. I will have to take some time to try the things you suggest. It is on someone else's laptop and I don't have constant access.

Funny that I installed the new openCPN on my old XP and it went smoothly.
