problem reading NMEA data from wifi mux

Since last version of opencpn (5.x) impossible to receive nmea 0183 data from a wifi mux. It is not a hardware problem as an other navigation software, scannav, works fine. The mux server uses UDP protocol, send data to port 10110, 192.168.0.110 IP adress. Of course opencpn connection is settled with these parameters. A ping to this adress is fully ok. Somebody can help? Thank you

Re: problem reading NMEA data from wifi mux

What is the IP address of the MUX? What is the IP address of the PC? Is the MUX configured to do a broadcast on port 10110 or unicast to the PC's IP address? What exactly did you configure in OpenCPN?

A guess based on the most common configuration mistake seen: In case the MUX IP address is 192.168.0.110 and you configured that as the address in OpenCPN running on the PC, your configuration is wrong and you should replace it with either 0.0.0.0 or the IP address of the PC. With UDP you do not "connect to a server", you listen for data.

Re: problem reading NMEA data from wifi mux

Thanks for your message. The mux is at 192.168.0.110 address and broadcast to any IP. In opencpn I tried a lot of settings:
  • no IP address (many software dont need the ip address of an UDP sender)
  • 0.0.0.0
  • localhost
  • the mux IP address
None of these works!

I also tried:
  • the PC address 192.168.0.100
  • the DNS server 192.168.0.254
and so on. No success!
