Re: Raspberry PI - Installing OpenCPN Version 5

Hi,

just for the statistic :

Rpi 3b+, clean and fresh Stretch Image from the rpi-web site, Opencpn 5.0 from the ubuntu xenial ppa
OpenGL in OC aktivated
vc4 Driver with fake kms (full kms give Trouble with the Resolution via the vnc remote Connection)
Set Memory split to 64, 128 or 256 but doesent have much Effekt.
Updating to the latest kernel via rpi-update have no visuable speed effects.

then glxgears shows the known three gears without flicker or faults and with fps synchronizised with the monitor sync rate -> 60 fps what is normal.

OC runs smoothly and fast enough when panning and zooming rastercharts (round about 15 to 20 fps). Canīt test vektorcharts in the moment.

What does not work (for me):
Starting to update a Jessie System with OC 4.8.8 to a Stretch System with OC 5.0
When updating form Jessie to Stretch it seems that this will end in problems with the OpenGL and video Drivers.
This means glxgears then Shows three gears but with wrong Colors and flickers.
The fps are a not so high as normal.
OC runs badly slow. Panning and zooming with maybe 1 to 2 fps.

Regards

Andreas
