Route display

I am running OpenCPN 5.6.2 on Windows 10; when creating a route I get red circles around th waypoints in the Route. What are those circles and how to switch them off/on? Thanks.

Have a look at your settings at Options|Ships|Routes/Points:

It works for new routes. The setting does not change the display of existing / saved routes with range rings. The issue is resolved for me.

If you have enough existing routes for this to be a problem, you could write a simple script for the JavaScript plugin to remove them. It would take about 7-8 lines of JavaScript.
