Idem with W XP. Not dependant to the OS.

I thought I had already read something about it in another life.

I am afraid there is a bug in the. Hopefully Dave will read this thread.

Actually, there's no possibility to change either time or speed on a segment's line.
Impossible to sort by column as read in the user guide.
The only cell you can update for a segment is the segment number (the one which should be protected ?)
The array's management seems doing the contrary of what it should be for a sailing usage.

yoruk, you can change the speed of any route leg in 1224.

AS Practise I offer this this example:
Double-click any waypoint on the route, Click the "Description" tab. Type this onto that page.

VMG=3

Name:	Clipboard01.png
Views:	186
Size:	10.7 KB
ID:	51944
Now, the route has a leg speed of 3 knots from that waypoint to the next in the route

Thanks HappySeagull.

I discovered this. it is not explained on the website opencpn.org. Indeed, it works.

What I remember of it by my next navigation ....

How naive users OpenCPN they could use it.

It's too complicated. Really,, OpenCPN now becomes what we call in France a "gas factory". In practice, it is unusable.

Hello,

Other .... In route manager.

I think I remember that double-clicking in the "Check Out", the date and time of the PC is automatically put in place. This does not seem to be the case.

Am I wrong?

Re: Route Manager Problem…

Hello,

By chance, I see this strange phenomenon :

Create a route
Right click on a waypoint oh this route. By example on the waypoint 002.
Open Waypoint properties
click on tab "Description"
immediately, write a text .. By example VMG=3RTY

And the name of the waypoint is changed. The new name is 002VMG=3RTY !

Before write VMG=3, it is necessary to click in the tab.

For me this a bug.

Gilletrom, I'm on xp with 1224.This works....

type this character ">" into "Departure Time" box. but without the quote (") marks...
just the >
then, press the "Enter" on your keyboard... it should now automatically add the present day and time per your computer. Note:"Local@PC" needs to be selected.... did it get lost from the help files?

Yes,G~, You are right-The description page doesn't seem to like anything extra written in when you are using the "VMG" trick. It'd be better if it allowed a few notes about the WPT/Mark to be in there as it will trouble the Power Users of Routes, I bet. (I am not one of these!)

Yes HappySeagull. You are right. I could not remember the method of character >. This is really something that is not intuitive.

And this is not explained in the help nor in opencpn.org.

Re: Route Manager Problem…

Yes, I looked through and could not find these tips. They USED to be there though. I have the > tip in an old help file I found.
They aren't intuitive ,I agree, but with so many requests, I imagine the solutions implemented get lost as the hard-working developers swing to focus on the next supplicant...I can only imagine how much work it might be to decorate each improvement.

Yes, I know it takes work. But of course, we must say things. After that, it obviously depends on the availability of Dave and other developers. And their desire to do so.

But, here, we are in 2013 ... So goog year.

Re: Route Manager Problem…

Thank you all,

We will be able to change ALL tutorials in French
Solive, Gérard and Happy Seagull, you're right, this method of speed change is far too complicated. It would be easier to
Sincerely Michel

Re: Route Manager Problem…

Happy new year to you ALL!

The description how to enter present time using >, has bee in the wiki all the time. Never gone. But.. it was not mentioned the first time (?) departure settings came up, but further down in relation to tides. I have cleaned that up a bit.
There are a few unpolished corners in the Route Manager, features that were quickly introduced, and not touched since, for a variety of reasons. As far as I can see the groundwork for both "now" time and speed for each leg are laid. A more polished UI is needed.
One of the most confusing things were the mess with layers. This problem actually had a better solution in the end, by not being solved to quickly Ironical, but true. The problem was as made for the "focused menus", but they were not available a year ago.

Remember, to help really solve thing like these, enter them in the FS bug tracker. Think about it! How could Dave, after a week or two without wifi possibly guess that in a thread like this, there is something important for him.

Happy, thanks for the speed per leg trick. I had missed that one. Seems like a quick hack begging for a proper UI.
