Tore

What boat have you selected? What are the polars etc. Have you specified any performance or weather restrictions? These and more factors plays a part.

maitai/Thomas..

All´s well,found out at last,working fine thanks..
I am also importing the optimized track to OruxMaps,a very promising Android nav. app.
Hope they will also be able to integrate qtVlm.

Unfortunately the Excel sheet is outdated, it was made for Excel2000 and would not work in current Excel versions. However, if anyone is interested I might be able to dig it up.

You can open that file in OpenOffice or any of its derrivatives and save it in various forms for use on most operating systems. Give it a try as its would be interesting to look at. If not send me a copy off list and will take care of it. Stuff like this is important.

Re: Route Planning with GRIB - Work in Progress

There is no need for login unless you intend to use qtVlm connected to VLM free virtual-racing server. All you have to do is to select "real-boat" at the first launch. You can change this in boat->accounts setting. Or you can delete qtVlm.ini and relaunch qtVlm to start over from scratch.

BTW it's a pity to use qtVlm from wine (although it will work).

Re: Route Planning with GRIB - Work in Progress

Why a pity. There is no native linux version, it works and on this lads boat, its either mac or linux (for now) but never a window. A port maybe...and preferably a good red one from overseas..

Nice progam and thanks for the tip.

Re: Route Planning with GRIB - Work in Progress

Hay waite..... QtVlm/en - VlmWiki tells me source is available and compiles under linux. That is good news. Where can I find the source and compile instructions in terms of dependancies. Easy enough to build ubuntu packages from that.

Best and kind regards

Re: Route Planning with GRIB - Work in Progress

As said in the wiki, the only needed thing to compile qtVlm is QT (at least 2.8.0, latest 2.8.2 is even better).

Re: Route Planning with GRIB - Work in Progress

ver 3 compiles fine but make install fails.....so was wondering what the magic incantations are as it cannot find the map files if run from the build directory.

Re: Route Planning with GRIB - Work in Progress

Since you have installed the version for windows you already have all the needed files. The best is to copy all the files in the build directory (directories maps, polar, img, etc). Basically everything except .exe and .dll. To be perfect you need also a fresh update from the repository for the tr (translation) directory.

BTW there is a dedicated topic where I think it's more appropriate to post questions and issues concerning qtVlm: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...are-74738.html

Re: Route Planning with GRIB - Work in Progress

Same if I try to build a package:
------------------------------------------------
checkinstall 1.6.2, Copyright 2009 Felipe Eduardo Sanchez Diaz Duran
This software is released under the GNU GPL.

The package documentation directory ./doc-pak does not exist.
Should I create a default set of package docs? [y]: y

Preparing package documentation...OK

This package will be built according to these values:
