Re: S63 Fingerprint issues

So it executes from the command prompt and the error level is 0, so why doesn't it work in OpenCPN?

Any Antivirus software but the MS Defender? If so, disable it.

Re: S63 Fingerprint issues

The wxExecute simply calls the CreateProcess Windows API and that code is there for 23 years, so we can probably discard the option that it is generally broken and concentrate on your system being for some reason "special".
Try to start OpenCPN with elevated privileges (Right click the desktop icon and select "Run as Administrator" from the context menu) and see if the fingerprint file gets generated.

Re: S63 Fingerprint issues

Run as Administrator produces the same result......no fingerprint generated, same error messages

Re: S63 Fingerprint issues

So, what else can we do to try to get this to work?
I've restarted numerous times, used CCleaner, made sure no other programs are running, tried run as administrator ...and the result is the same...

Re: S63 Fingerprint issues

Can you attach the complete log, not just the snippet? In case rename it to for example ... .log.jpeg to overcome eventual size limitations.
Do you have a dedicated Admin account on that system plus a User?
Or just that one user with the space in the user name?

Re: S63 Fingerprint issues

From the log I can see you have the o-charts plugin installed as well. Are you able to generate the fingerprint file with it or does it also fail?

Re: S63 Fingerprint issues

From the plugin preferences (Which you access through the plugin tab in the Toolbox), click on the "Create System Identifier file..." button and confirm you do want to create it.

Re: S63 Fingerprint issues

No. But we can try to modify the S63 plugin to actually ignore what wxExecute call returns as exit code as it does in the o-charts plugin. It just won't happen until the weekend, at least if I have to be the one to do it.

Re: S63 Fingerprint issues

@Nohal.
A simple hack to the plugin code to ignore that specific error will not help us. Proper execution of OCPNsenc is required for just about every activity and chart access function in the plugin.

@Albro359
I think we are back to considering the space in the user name.
We could fix that in the plugin, if that is indeed the problem.
But it sure would be nice to confirm that as the root cause of the trouble before spinning an update to the plugin experimentally.

Any chance you could create a new "no-space" user account, login there, install the S63 plugin, and try that as an experiment?

Thanks
Dave
