S63 Plugin not showing up in OpenCPN 4.2

I have installed OpenCPN 4.2 on xubuntu 15.10 by using "ppa:nohal/opencpn" repository. I installed the s63_pi_1.4.0 plugin, but it is not available in the OpenCPN -> settings -> Plugin tab.

Is there any detailed instructions on how to get this to work?

Re: S63 Plugin not showing up in OpenCPN 4.2

sveine...
I suppose you installed the DEB package currently linked on the plugin download page. Ubuntu 15.10 switched to GCC5 so it is binary incompatible with the previous releases, please uninstall the plugin and then do
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install opencpn-plugin-s63
and let me know whether the plugin is working for you (it is for me, but I have no charts to confirm whether everything is as it should)

Thanks

Pavel

For testing purposes there is a S-64 test set available:
S63 Vector Charts | Official OpenCPN Homepage
(see at the bottom of the page)

Re: S63 Plugin not showing up in OpenCPN 4.2

Thank you nohal and bcn.

I removed DEB package from the download page and installed the opencpn-plugin-s63. This is working and I managed to generate a fingerprint file. I will give more feedback when I have tested with charts.

Re: S63 Plugin not showing up in OpenCPN 4.2

I managed to install the plugin and generate a fingerpint file. But the fingerprint file will not be accepted in o-charts.org when I try to request the "Install Permit". I get a bad file name error:

the fingerprint filename is: "fpr03L_14xxxxxxxx.fpr". (replaced the actual numbers with x)

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

Re: S63 Plugin not showing up in OpenCPN 4.2

Please just change the 03L to 02L and try again. Should work then.
Looks like a typo/bug in the latest version of the Linux version.

Changing 03L to 02L fixed the issue. Thank you
