Re: S63 Plugin Update

Are you still recommending against using S-63 on Win10 platform due to Windows background update? Has there been any progress on this issue? This actually happened to me in the Sea of Cortez last year. Lost all S-63 charts for Mexico.

Thanks.

Re: S63 Plugin Update

The issue should be resolved with the latest version of the plug-in.
You might need to create a new InstallPermit though.

Just install it and test it.

If you change the extension as ".txt" to ".txt.doc", then you can probably send the file without problem. And, if not because the txt file is really too big,, you can also zip the txt file before and then send it with the extension ".zip.doc".

Re: S63 Plugin Update

Code:
10:28:54 AM: s63_pi: OCPNsenc Check OK...OCPNsenc: Version 1.10a
10:28:54 AM: "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\s63_pi\OCPNsenc.exe" -w -o "C:\ProgramData\opencpn\
10:29:04 AM: s63_pi: OCPNsenc results:

End of log file
Does OpenCPN crash here?

Can you please try the following:

At the plug-in directory
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\s63_pi\OCPNsenc.exe

launch directly from the command prompt:
OCPNsenc.exe -w -o C:\ProgramData\opencpn\

(under W10 you might need to place .\ before the command)

What is the result?

Hubert

Re: S63 Plugin Update

Hubert,

Yes, OpenCPN crashed there.
BTW: earlier this morning I disabled and uninstalled s_63, deleted all files, downloaded the setup files again and completely reinstalled. Same results.

I tried launching directly from the command prompt in the s_63 subdir and got the same crash:

"OCPNsenc.exe has stopped working" dialogue box from MS.

Thanks,
OZwingle

Re: S63 Plugin Update

Quite spooky....

Can you please attach the complete log-file?
As Gilletarom explained: just rename it to .doc and it should be accepted as attachment.

Here is the log file attached. You might start at:

That is, yesterday in the log.

Re: S63 Plugin Update

Thanks...

looks all pretty normal.

What I interpret from the log is that the program does not crash.
It just does not do anything and the after an hour and a half or so - the log-book entries in the file - you are closing it.

Code:
....
....
3:57:31 PM: s63_pi: Checking OCPNsenc utility at {C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\s63_pi\OCPNsenc.exe}
3:57:31 PM: s63_pi: OCPNsenc Check OK...OCPNsenc: Version 1.10a

3:57:43 PM: s63_pi: OCPNsenc results:

5:30:00 PM: LOGBOOK: 2017-06-18 04:30:00 UTC DR Lat -18.65880 Lon -173.98180
5:40:36 PM: PlugInManager: Deactivating PlugIn: C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN\plugins\wmm_pi.dll
......
......
What I don't understand is this entry at this place:
Code:
3:57:43 PM: s63_pi: OCPNsenc results:
At this moment the PI should copy the file onto the desktop.
But as you said, no for file in \ProgramData\OpenCPN....

Do you use any virus checker?
Windows might ask you as well - happens for example under W8.1 - if you want to allow the program to copy a file.

Re: S63 Plugin Update

Yes, using ESET. Windows Defender thus turned off. There has been no Win10 dialogue box asking to allow a file to be written, that I can see.

So I disabled all ESET protections (virus, HIPS, file/registry write, etc.) temporarily. No change in results.
