S63_PI Alpha Test 0.3.0

Ahoy, OpenCPN'ers...

The next Alpha test (0.3.0) of the S63 PlugIn is available for download now.

o-charts

I had hoped that this would be a Beta test, but still too much of the internal plumbing is in a state of flux. So, we'll call this an Alpha test, one more time.

1. Installation: As before.
2. Use:
a. There has been another juggle of the s63 directory structure. It will be best to delete anything that looks like "S63" stuff from your config directory, and start over with loading permits and cells from scratch.

b. You wil notice a new entry field on the Options->Charts->S63 charts dialog. This is the "Install Permit" field. I will let Hubert describe the relationship between cell permits, userpermits, and install permits.

c. To test with the S64 Testset, use the following "well known" values in the dialog:
User Permit: 66B5CBFDF7E4139D5B6086C23130
Install Permit: 38F99B50

d. You will now have the option of creating eSENC files in batch mode as the cells are imported.

3. Testing:
We should be able to pass nearly all of the scripted tests in the S64 Testset with this version of s63_pi.

Thanks for your patience and interest.

Good Luck
Dave

Re: S63_PI Alpha Test 0.3.0

First I have to inform that we will need some more hours to update the o-charts.org site with the 0.3.0 version. We will announce when it is done.

In the past we had a lot of questions like "how can I make a copy of my charts" or "I will need a second PC as a back-up" or "What happens if I have to re-install the OS", all cases resulting in a different fingerprint and therefore a different UserPermit as well. So locked in.
This will change now to allow us greater flexibility:

The UserPermit as defined by S-63 will continue to exist and will be vinculated to a serial number or a "virtual" HW_ID we will generate at the shop.
The UserPermit will allow to go shopping for chart sets.
The VAR's or chart resellers will create chart sets corresponding to the UserPermit as established and written down in S-63.
The UserPermit is your key for the encrypted chart sets.

To vinculate individual installs with an UserPermit we will need the fingerprint of that machine - like before.
The difference will be that we have to create an InstallPermit now as a second key, using the fingerprint.

Each single install will require two keys:

One UserPermit thatcan be used for several installations using the corresponding individual InstallPermit.

How many? That's in the air still, but 5 looks like a valid option..Hope the explanation is clear - if not please, please ask!

Hubert

Re: S63_PI Alpha Test 0.3.0

Hello Dave, hello hubert.

I clean my PC and then I install S63 0.3 using 3.3.1419.

Then I enter the install permit and the userpermit.

I try 8b and 2b ... I enter permit.txt ...Nothing occur. No chart S63 available !

Normal, I do not load chart. So I load chart. I enter ROOT path then Ok.

It run !

Re: S63_PI Alpha Test 0.3.0

Gilletarom,

the CellPermit and the cell data files are two different beasts, therefore the two steps.
This comes into play when getting updates for cells:
the permit already exists and then you just read the update files.

Re: S63_PI Alpha Test 0.3.0

hello Hubert,

Plouf plouf ...

If you want beta testers are not lost, it takes a little improve-page www.o- charts.org /. Just a little but a little anyway.
1 It is better to explain the role of the 5 buttons:
- Newuserpermit ...
- Import certificate ...
- Import charts / update ...
- Remove allowed
- Import Cell allowded ...

2 What is IHO.pub?

3 Perhaps necessary improve the document that we have translated in o-charts.org.

Yes, we will have to update the document - but as we are modifying such a lot of things still, the idea is to do so when we can switch to beta status.

IHO.pub: this is the official IHO certificate for authentication of the downloads.
S-63 establishes that the user has to be able to check if the certificate installed is the correct one and to update it when required.
As almost all certificates it times out and then the user shall update the certificate. Or when the IHO decides that it has to put a new one in place:
Quote:
A new IHO Scheme Administrator Certificate came into force on September 1st 2013. This IHO Certificate is available for download here and will expire on February 2033.
Looks that we have a bit of time now....

Re: S63_PI Alpha Test 0.3.0

Hello Dave, Hello Hubert,

Why, rectangles bar charts for S63 charts, they have the same blue color for rectangles raster charts?

S63 and S57 are similar type of charts. I think it would be better if the S63 rectangles were green.

Non, pas vert, pensez aux daltoniens !!! Noir et bleu serait très bien

Not green, think colorblind! Black and blue would be great

Re: S63_PI Alpha Test 0.3.0

From a functional point of view S-63 and S-57 charts are identical.
What you are using is a decrypted S-63 cell = a S-57 chart.

So I'm in doubt if we should differenciate them at all.

The problem for Yoruk is not to differentiate the S57 S63.

Yoruk only says that there are sailors who do not see the color green, the other who do not see the color red, etc .... because their eyesight is poor.

So he asked that the rectangles bar charts S63 and S57 are in two colors "black and red".

Personally, I am lucky to have a correct view and I am satisfied with the current colors, blue for raster, green for S57 (and S63) and yellow for CM93.

Should the sailors themselves can choose their favorite colors and this should be added a selection box in the "Personalization" tab options.

Re: S63_PI Alpha Test 0.3.0

Folks...

In preparation for the upcoming s63_pi Version 0.4.0 Beta, we are now ready to start international translations of the PlugIn dialogs and messages.

I attach the s63_pi.pot file. You may copy and rename this file to your locale specific version, and create translations using poedit, or similar.

Please rename your translation .po file consistent with the following, e.g.

s63_pi_fr_FR.po

You may submit translations here as attachments. I will accept translations for a few days, and we shall see the next Beta soon afterwards.

Thanks
Dave
