Sailaway.World

Suggest using this thread to discuss Sailaway.World issues where they involve OpenCPN.

Sailaway has far better NMEA simulation possibilities than ShipDriver. Depth is available, which is impressive.Sample NMEAConverter sentence:

$XXDBT, $SDDBT1,$SDDBT2,$SDDBT3,$SDDBT4,$SDDBT5,$SDDBT6

NMEAConverter plugin plays an important role at the moment, although there may be scope for a dedicated plugin later.

Re: Sailaway.World

Just published a plugin to provide a NMEA feed for OpenCPN from the Sailaway SimGame. May be useful as a test utility, or it may be of interest to Sailaway players.

You will need to have registered with Sailaway and setup a boat before you start. This provides a user name which is needed in the plugin.

Cheat sheat for the game is at the same link.

Re: Sailaway.World

A package installer for MacOS Catalina has been added to the assets on GitHub.

Some work to do tidying up the code before updating the source.

Re: Sailaway.World

Hi Mike,

I made a few modificatiions to your plugin in order to compile and use it under Linux. I tryed to push this patch to Github without success. I'm new to the way of working of open source projects and don't really know how to proceed.
Shall I pay a beer to someone ?

Re: Sailaway.World

Yes, I was going to update GitHub after my work on MacOS. That may resolve some of the things you needed to change.

Could you put your work on your own GitHub and I can take a look at the changes?

Are you running Sailaway using Wine? A tutorial on that would be useful.

Thanks for testing.

Re: Sailaway.World

Ok, I will fork your repo.

No, I'm not using wine. I'm currently testing Sailaway on windows but my OpenCPN runs on a Linux laptop just next to it. It works fine !

Why isn't it a good idea?

Re: Sailaway.World

I am trying to add an option to the 'SailawayNMEA' plugin which converts an OpenCPN GPX file to the 'Sailaway' format. This is uploaded and appears as a route for your boat to follow. The format shown on the 'Sailaway.World' website is not working for me.

If someone has done this I would be grateful if they could post the file that they used.

Many thanks.

Re: Sailaway.World

SailawayNMEA_pi v0.2 has now been published for Windows and MacOS.

https://github.com/Rasbats/SailawayN...eases/tag/v0.2

There is now a menu option to create a waypoints file from an OpenCPN gpx file. This file can be uploaded to Sailaway ('Hamburger','Options','Account','Go to webpage'). It will then appear in your library of routes.

TODO Update manual to show menu.

Re: Sailaway.World

Hello Rasbats.
I´m trying it but when I click on Start server an Error message pop up "Error" and then OpenCpn closes. I´m using it on w10.

Great Work.
Thank you for your time

Re: Sailaway.World

capitow...

Thanks for trying the plugin.

Windows/OpenCPN 5.0/Internet connection.

You have all the connections set up correctly, UDP and TCP/IP.

'User Name', 'Enter' or 'Load Boats', you see the boats you sail. Select the boat you want to display on the chart. 'Start Server'. The error is produced.

I will test on my Win10 tablet and see what happens.
