Samsung Tablet (Android) & OpenCpn: lost/stuck GPS signal after app in background

Hi Everybody and thanks for maintaining this great Forum!

I just installed OpenCPN on my samsung Tab A8 tablet that runs on Android.

I'm experiencing issues with the internal GPS.

Once the app goes in background it seems to loose the GPS and not to be able to recover it anymore.

The GPS works fine becuase if I open googlemaps I can see myself in the right spot.

Moreover if I ask OpenCPN to open teh debug window I see the GPS strings passing by..

The only thing I can do seems to restart the whole Tablet.... is there a fix to this?

Change settings so that

1. Android does not sleep (in Android setup)
2. In OpenCPN setup: Set OpenCPN Display setting to "Do not sleep while OpenCPN active"

Indeed, at the moment my settings are already like this.

However it might happen that I need to switch from OpenCPN to another app (meteo) and then back to OpenCpn.. and that sometimes trigger the issue.

SOMEtimes (not always!) when I switch to a different app that uses GPS, when I return to OpenCPN I have to go into OpenCPN settings, disable internal GPS, Apply, then Enable internal GPS, then Apply.

I prefer not to put OpenCPN in the background....

By any chance do you know if a fix is planned to happen sooner or later on OpenCpn dev side?
