SAR & MOB

If you receive an emergency call from another ship with position information, then there should be a button similar to the MOB button, with the same function but freely enterable coordinates.

Re: SAR & MOB

You can use the MOB button for this purpose, or even just right-click the chart and selecting "drop mark".

Once the waypoint is there, double-click it and update the lat/lon fields with the transmitted coordinates.

The extra work compared to a dedicated "ship in distress" button is limited to that extra double-click.

If you are referring to a DSC Distress Alert received by your VHF/HF radio and the radio's NMEA output is connected to OpenCPN, a distress waypoint will be automatically marked on the chart.

If it is a distress alert received by voice, follow the instructions described previously.

Nonetheless, if you are following proper radio practices you should be entering the distress call in your vessel's radio log, from which it could be easily transposed to your charts.

Hi Requiem

A good solution, just tried it, after a standalone function is the best solution.
