Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

Climatology and WR can also help with ballpark arrival times, if you are transit crew, but leaving a healthy margin is advisable.

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

Quote:
Sean is busy improving the weather_routing boat file, and configuration and this new version is much better, but we need to test and add two files to the installer:
boat.xml
weatherroutingconfiguration.xml
These files need to be downloaded and manually put in this folder:
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing

In the next version this will hopefully be taken care of by the installer.
Sean advises that no boat.xml or weatherroutingconfiguration.xml files are installed as a part of the the install program, nor are they necessary, the configuration defaults to being empty. Since this data and these files are necessary, they are created in the programdata/opencpn/plugins/weather_routing_pi/ directory when the plugin is first started and initialized.

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

OpenCpn Beta Login rguser, rgpass
File Thingie 2.5.7

The following files have been updated:

3.2.2 PI Win
weatherfax_pi-1.1-ov3.2.2-b-win32 - New
wmm_pi-0.8-ov3.2.2-win32
celestial_navigation_pi-1.8-ov3.2.2-win32
climatology_pi-0.12-ov3.2.2-c-win32 - New

3.3.1824 PI Win
watchdog_pi-1.1-ov3.3.1824-win32
trimplot_pi-0.3-ov3.3.1824-win32
statusbar_pi-0.4-ov3.3.1824-win32
rtlsdr_pi-0.10-ov3.3.1824-win32
weather_routing_pi-1.1-ov3.3.1824-c-win32 -new, NEW (overnight, now "c")

Keep an eye on file dates, as that will often signal a new file has been uploaded. Older files will now be deleted.

Please test weatherfax_pi it is almost ready for release. In windows, TIF files can't be downloaded, resulting in "Failure to download", however the Tif file does land in the data directory for weatherfax. Sean has explained this situation, and various alternatives for TIF. NOAA Boston uses TIF so these fail gracefully with an error message. On other file types this plugin works great. There is also a problem with using Retrieve Audio File when in Windows, there will be an opencpn failure, which is being worked on.

Sean was busy last night on weather_routing, with three git uploads, newest version is much better, if boat.xml and weatherroutingconfiguration.xml are not found, the installer creates them automatically to C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing (Likely location.) No user intervention needed.

Please test this NEW version of Weather_routing with Climatology and Grib.
Thanks. Report all problems please, they are very very helpful in bringing this tool to release.

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

I have done some testing in latest version of weather_routing_pi.

I have tried to load polar data in the Boat dialog and use that for computing the Configuration. It does not work.
The computing fails immediately and I think it has lost the polar data.
When I go into the Boat dialog again, the polar diagram looks very strange/is wrong.

I have attached the polar csv file.

The "Start Time" setting is a bit strange as well. It is ok to set the hour, but setting the minute can lead to unpredictable results (or I don't understand it at least).

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

Thanks for testing.

I believe you can only set the hour, but with a decimal. So 10.5 would be 10:30.

Lulle would you mind sliding over to the Weatther_routing thread and making your reports about weather_routing there, so things are organized? It also leave this thread available for bigger picture things like update announcements for the various plugins, etc. Thanks.

Please see my response here, fixed your polar file...:

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

We have been updating the Tracker bugs and feature requests in these plugins:
Celestial Navigation Tracker
Weatherfax Tracker
Weather Routing Tracker
and they have been brought up to date.
Testing of Celestial Nav continues. We hope others will test Weather_Routing and Weatherfax and advise in the respective threads listed below:

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1604214

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1603401

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1604249

The most current plugins are uploaded to Opencpn Beta File thingie, in the post just above. They can be run with the current beta version 3.3.1931 or version 3.2.2 depending on which folder you find them in. The 3.2.2 plugins are forward compatible.

Rick,

In tracker the following items are mentioned:

  1. Allow a sight(s) to be "turned off" as with an "eye" with a red cross, and recalculate fix.
This is already possible, isn't it?
  2. Current calcs use a "least squares" which results in a visual red cross for fix. It would be very nice to have fix Lat Long appear somewhere where it could be copied with cursor.
This is already shown (but only when shifts are not applied). Preferably, also a numerical position will be shown whenever shifts are applied.
  3. a. Once data are entered and accepted, it's still not possible to change this later, e.g. when input errors are made.
    b. Dates entered as e.g. 1957-08-04 (august 4, 1957) is changed by plugin after restart to 1957-04-08 (april 8, 1957).
Both these problem seem to have disappeared. Don't ask me why ....

Re: Sean Depagnier's Plugins

NAV, Thanks for your notes.
1. Please refer to this Celestial Nav post http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1604949 Item has been closed in tracker.
2. Can you add this comment into Tracker? FS#1443 : Show fix as Long Lat in addition to red line visual cross
3. Good. Can't find where I entered this into Tracker anyway.

Thanks.

PS: We should probably keep our Celestial Nav focused comments in that thread in the future.
