Some comments on OCPN usage

Hi all,
I have been using OCPN during our last long trip, mostly on Android. I would like to share my impressions:
* TTG is displayed in hours even for long trips; I'd suggest to switch to days in this cas (e.g. 14d 10 h 32 m)
* speed, and consequently TTG, as taken from GPS varies too much to be anyhow useful; would it be reasonable to replace it (or add) average speed over, say, last 30 seconds?
* finger interaction on Android is sometimes problematic, leading to occasional crashes.
All the best, and thanks.

Hello, PCAV,
assuming that you are using the Android paid version, the best way for your suggestions to be taken in account is to write them on :

Re: Some comments on OCPN usage

I think some of the points are general ones.

The suggestions/questions about averaging COG/SOG - can be resolved at Options|Connections or directly in the setting file
and
TTG for long trips or legs - theirs was Darwin - La Réunion. Not that frequent but some will have this issue.

Triple or multiple touch on Android, this is a special case for the AO. No idea

Look at the Connections tab of the Options.

Re: Some comments on OCPN usage

I confirm the feature is available on my Sony Android tablet. It's right at the top of the connections tab.

Just a thought - pcav, are you using the free version or the much more up-to-date paid version? Perhaps it's not available on the now rather ancient free version.

Re: Some comments on OCPN usage

Hi,
thanks for the reply. I have the free version, without the option, so this explains all.
All the best.
