South Gulf Cove Canals

This question is in regard to the depths of the canals in SGC. We just bought a lot in SCG, 1 bridge. We are trying to hire a captain to take us out on the water and through the locks before building the house and buying the boat. His comment was that unless we get some rain their lift can’t go low enough to get their boat off. So that raises two questions for us; first, we were under the impression that generally the water in the canal is consistent due to the locks and that depth is not an issue in regards to boating, secondly, is there a certain type of boatlift that is better than another for SGC canals? We are not new to boating but we are new to living on the canals. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Re: South Gulf Cove Canals

Be aware that you are at the very end of the dry season on SW Florida (we are just south of you in Fort Myers).

So, any area dependent on rain will be at/close to its lowest point.
