Re: squiddio plugin

PS: Might be useful to have an "eye" to turn on and off each tag, also with "all on" and "alll off" and maybe highlight and select on or off. However users need to learn more before doing changes, because there may be other suggestions/needs about the interface.

Re: squiddio plugin

Thanks.

I have libcurl3 package installed, if that's what is needed. I see nothing to indicate the weatherfax plugin works either. But I have no working reference point with which to judge.

Think I might have got ahead of myself. There might be something fundamental wrong with the Ubuntu 14.04/OpenCPN installation, probably more to do with Ubuntu 14.04, NVidia, etc., and I don't have the skills to sort it out.

Re: squiddio plugin

Ken Norris I believe weatherfax has libcurl basically built in now. If you can Retrieve Internet weather files you are using libcurl.

Re: squiddio plugin

Thanks.
Weatherfax works fine but not yet squiddio. It defaults straight to the no internet message i.e. without hesitation, when the 'Download local sQuiddio destinations' is selected.
Also, the 'Enable' function does not appear to carry from one OCPN session to the next i.e. the 'Download local sQuiddio destinations' menu option is not available, until squiddio is disabled/enabled in the Plugins menu.
I reinstalled squiddio (don't know how to uninstall) after installing Weatherfax but still no joy.
Any advice?

Re: squiddio plugin

For Windows users, with Plugins that are compiled standalone with NSIS installer, there is an uninstall exe for the plugin placed in the main Ocpn directory....

Linux has its own methods that I believe are better and I will let someone more knowledgeable address uninstallation of plugins for Linux.

Re: squiddio plugin

I am having trouble turning off all the Squiddio Tags that I have downloaded. I would like to unclutter the charts for Navigation. Squiddio is good for planning destinations and arrrivals, There do not seem to be any tags in our area that help with navigation.

I would like the ability to:
1. Keep all the squiddio tags separate from navigation tracks, waypoints, etc. on a different layer that can be turned on and off easily.
2. Ability to turn on or off a certain type of tag. (Ie if it is for navigation, fine have it one while navigating.... otherwise off, etc.)
3. Currently we have to laboriously click on each squiddio tag to turn it off, or to highlight and right click to "Delete" it from the hard disk (it then has to be downloaded again). Why not allow user to turn it off from display? In Opencpn that is usually an "eye" that is crossed with red X.
4. There should be a way of turning on ALL tags or selected types of tags.
5. There should be a way of turning off ALL tage or selected types of tags.
6. Perhaps a separate Squiddio "Waypoint" List of only Squiddio tags with "eyes" and ability to select multiple tags with normal windows controls to highlight, then do an "action" like turn off, delete, turn on, move to a special squiddio layer, or user layer, etc.
7. Maybe this could be incorporated with some USER TAG functionality, so user could prepare tags for later upload to Squiddio when they have wifi service. However they can make them extemporaneously as they cruiise.

Rick,

please read: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1642472

You have tried the context menu? Sorry, have the german version only.
Menu item for showing changes to hide once the points are shown.

Re: squiddio plugin

Ah ha, you are right Carcode.
The right click dropdown has either
"Show Squiddio destinations"
"Hide Squiddio destinations"

When Hide or show is picked the destination in the chart area are shown or hidden AFTER you rewrite the screen by Panning or Zooming. If you Zoom out and find more squiddio destinations you can pick show and then hide again to make them disappear.

When hidden they do not show up in the Waypoint list! This is great.

Also I just found out that you can disable the plugin, but force a redraw of the screen to get rid of the tags.

Now this appears to be more flexible for our use.

I like the idea of redirecting the storage location, which I think I'll do.

Is there a way of making and storing a bunch of tags and then uploading to the website? Would be good for offline work and extemporaneous (as you go) entries when you do not have internet.

Yes, because it currently uses the wxURL implementation which is basically broken. If we improve squiddio to use wxcurl I believe it will help a lot, could show progress, and resume partial transfers.

The real flaw is in the OpenCPN's plugin API though. It should not pass a pointer to the real variable but return a copy instead. The problem is we would have to break the compatibility with existing plugins to fix it...

Taratata .... Accept that maps folder are copied pretext of computer programming problem, it is not serious.
I think bluntly that it must stop.

Best regards GIlletarom.

Re: squiddio plugin

Gilletarom...
The problem is already fixed in the source tree. Please, stop using this plug-in until a new version is out if all you want to post is this over and over again.

Thanks

Re: squiddio plugin

Pavel

I can't get Squiddio to work at all with WiFi.
In simple terms, where do I go to implement your solution?

"For testing purposes you can simply replace the body of
squiddio_pi::IsOnline() function with
return true;"

Or is it not possible?

Re: squiddio plugin

Ken...
This problem should also already be fixed in the source tree, just clone it and build from source. No rocket science, just copy and paste:
Code:
sudo apt-get install libgtk2.0-dev gettext git-core cmake gpsd gpsd-clients libgps-dev build-essential wx-common libwxgtk2.8-dev libglu1-mesa-dev libgtk2.0-dev wx2.8-headers libbz2-dev libtinyxml-dev libportaudio2 portaudio19-dev
git clone https://github.com/mauroc/squiddio_pi.git
mkdir squiddio_pi/build
cd squiddio_pi/build
cmake ..
make package
sudo dpkg -i squiddio_pi_0.2-1_amd64.deb

Re: squiddio plugin

It's a beautiful thing Pavel.
Works as it should. But rocket science is easier.

Re: squiddio plugin

Testers...
We agreed with Mauro, the author of this plugin, to release a new version with no new features and just fixes for the annoying bugs that appeared so far.
Please, do not e-mail me directly with any requests regarding this or other plugins, I did not write this plugin and my table is more than full with other work, so really (= *really*) won't implement any of it Post it here or in the Flyspray tracker.
And please upgrade, sQuiddio 0.2 will be blacklisted in the next OpenCPN beta and won't work anymore at all.
