Storing of settings

How can I get opencpn to "remember" my settings? Every time I start up the units under settings starts with kilometer and speed with km/h. I want it to start with nautical mimes and knots.

Re: Storing of settings

You have most probably InlandECDIS enabled.

With this setting the default values for InlandECDIS are enforced at start-up.

Re: Storing of settings

Bo,

If you disabled the Inland ECDIS settings as BCN just described, and as I described (
https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...ml#post3190525
), it is possible that OpenCPN did not save the settings in its configuration file (opencpn.ini in Windows--different extension in other operating systems). The configuration file is saved when OpenCPN is closed from the "X" in top-right corner. Alt-F4 or Ctrl-Q keyboard shortcuts can also close OpenCPN.

If the OpenCPN does not have time to save its configuration file because the computer's power is lost, the changes to OpenCPN's settings made in the current session will be lost.

Re: Storing of settings

The Inland ECDIS is disabled but still not stored. I will try to close it with the "X" and see what happens.
Thanks for advice

When you disable the Inland ECDIS, there will be two "X" (Exit) symbols of the computer screen. Here is a screen shot showing the steps to

Code:
1. Disable "Inland ECDIS".
2. SAVE Options dialog setting in working memory.
3. Close OpenCPN and save the configurations to disk
    or other long term storage.
The steps are marked 1, 2, 3 on the picture.

Re: Storing of settings

Hi Paul, thank you very much for the step by step description and screen shots as well.
It works, and I have learnt a bit more about OpenCPN.
