Stuck on oeRNC charts Plug in and installing oeRNC Charts on a MacBook

I successfully purchased, downloaded, and installed the oeRNC charts for the Sea of Cortez on my Windows machine BUT am stuck doing the same with my MacBook. The issue is somewhere in the oeRNC plugin I think. I downloaded and installed the plugin and can see and enable the plugin in OpenCPN. In the Preferences for the plugin I get an error when I try to create the System Identifier file... "oeRNC-pi Message ERROR creating fingerprint file Check OpenCPN log file". I cannot find the log file using Finder on this machine.

Please help.

Re: Stuck on oeRNC charts Plug in and installing oeRNC Charts on a MacBook

In case you have a Admin account on your Mac, please use that one to start.
If you have success then later on the standard user account is sufficient.

We saw as well - rare, but exists - people with a virus checker on a Mac.
Disabling did help.

If all this does not bring up the charts, please check, that you are using the latest plug-ins and the latest version of OCPN for macOS.

In the next step we would need the opencpn log file. You can publish it here or send it by mail to o-charts.
The about ("?") button from the tool bar tells you where to find the log and the configuration file.

There are some Catalina installs with hick-ups when using the oeSENC plug-in. No cases known for oeRNC up-to-now.
(written from macOS 10.15.2 with the plug-ins running).

Re: Stuck on oeRNC charts Plug in and installing oeRNC Charts on a MacBook

Thanks for getting back so quickly.

My account is the only one on this machine so it is an admin account.

I don't have a virus checker and this is a very fresh system.

I just installed OpenCPN and the PlugIns yesterday and today so I trust they are the most current?

My log file is too large to upload here so I will need to email it to o-charts. What is the address?

Here's an excerpt from my log file:

Re: Stuck on oeRNC charts Plug in and installing oeRNC Charts on a MacBook

Can you please do the following:
create manually the fingerprint form Options|Plug-ins --> oeRNc --> preferences ?
We will need the log from that action.

Btw.: to upload bigger attachment just rename them to xxx.log.doc ...

Thanks for the tip. I tried renaming my log to ".txt" but it was too big.

Here's the log after attempting to create a fingerprint file.

Re: Stuck on oeRNC charts Plug in and installing oeRNC Charts on a MacBook

Can you please try from the terminal:

/Applications/OpenCPN.app/Contents/PlugIns/oernc_pi/oeaserverd -a

This should report version of oeaserverd. And show us if it is running.

Ok,

let us see:

can you please try this one:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ntwdozk4jk...1.0.5.pkg?dl=0 Run as usual, and try to make FPR by Preferences dialog. Email or post logfile. Should see more useful debug information in the log. Thanks

Re: Stuck on oeRNC charts Plug in and installing oeRNC Charts on a MacBook

It works now, Hubert!

I downloaded and installed the plugin and it allowed me to create the fingerprint and download and use my maps.

Thanks so much!

One more question, is it possible to use the pinch zoom trackpad gesture with the Mac version? I searched the documentation and settings and couldn't find out how to.

lambrettaman...

Happy it works now.
We would still like to see your logfile from a normal startup and Preferences->FPR creation.

Thanks
Dave

Well, crap. I got an error startup: Cannot find the oenrc_pi server utility at {}

And the fingerprint creation process failed again.

I can't see the charts anymore either.

The log file is attached.

I studied your logfile. Very strange.

Worked yesterday at around 11:20 MST. Did not work today at 07:54 MST. Different logfile results.

Did you reboot the computer overnight? Does anything change today if you reboot now?

Thanks

Well...

I tried again this morning. When I launched OpenCPN it opened it up and landed right on my Mexico charts!

I made another FPR file.

Attached are my log file and my FPR file.
