Tablet built-in GPS problem

On my phone (Galaxy S5 with built-in GPS), OpenCPN has a connection choice specifically for 'built-in GPS'. Works perfectly. On my tablet (Panasonic FZ-G1 with built-in GPS), there is no such choice, and nothing I do will allow me to connect. OpenCPN works correctly, except for no GPS connection. Ideas??

Thx, fadeaway

PS running Linux Mint on the tablet, android on phone

How, exactly, did you install OpenCPN for linux Mint on your tablet?
You are almost certainly going to need some linux driver to find and offer the GPS receiver to OCPN. How is this to be done? Does the GPS receiver on the tablet speak NMEA0183 natively? What is the interface, if any?

Thanks
Dave

Re: Tablet built-in GPS problem

1. Linux Mint -> synaptic package manager -> opencpn 5.6.0
2. that is the question...
3. yes, NMEA 0183
4. don't know. GPS receiver uses IRQ 7, IRQ 7 doesn't seem to be related to any ports?

4. Interface: don't know.

That is the real question. If it is a "standard" linux distro on the tablet, there should be some linux tools to allow you to find the /dev entry for the GPS receiver, if it exists.

Sleuthing required....

Good Luck
