I’ve had this happen. It seems to happen when trying to choose a polar that exist inside the app on my Mac. If you copy or move that polar to the desk top or elsewhere and load it, it doesn’t crash. Can some one try this?

All versions but 1.0008 does have troubles as described under Linux (Ubuntu & raspberry).

Many thanks to Jon Gough and Petri for their help with Tactics. I believe Jon has improved the polar file handling, adding an "About" Tab, and improving the multiple version Travis file with separate scripts. Please beta test your OS version and advise.

Hi Rick,

Under Windows it is not possible to change the polar file (v1.0.25) after update.
Back to v1.0.10 where it works.

Juancho, Thank you for trying it.
Under windows using this version, I was able to change to
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing\pol ars\
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\weather_routing\pol ars\Beneteau375.pol
Suggestion: Maybe a little more care and step by step detail will help me believe your testing.

I have a directory OUTSIDE OpenCPN directories.
D:\Documents\Navigation\Polars
Tactics get the polar configured before the update (Official 1.008...)
Once 1.0.25 installed, change polar without any warning, but the polar is not taken into account when you go back to the conf screen.
I don't know what I can tell you more ...

By the way, I tried it on Uuntu 18.04 this morning.
It does not install on top of opencpn-plugin-tactics.
I removed opencpn-plugin-tactics, installed your package (.deb 1.0.25), OPCN crashes on launching ...

Incorrect. I have copied alberg35.pol to my downloads directory. Then loaded the plugin and "browsed" the path to "downloads" [note that this is a user directory and is no write protected like the program directories] and selected "alberg35.pol" Then selected "LOAD" and "Apply". Closed the plugin and closed the program. Then reloaded and checked the polar path in tactics and it was still Downloads\alberg35.pol


You will have to give more detail with regard to ubuntu, and perhaps you are not doing something correctly. Why not uninstall the plugin and reinstall?

Thanks for your attention.
I will have a closer look when appropriate for me.
Mean time, 1.0008 is working fine under Linux and 1.0.10 is fine under Windows too for my needs.

Once again, many thanks to Petri and Jon Gough for all their help.
This version adds an About tab and now show the version major.minor.patch number.
Additionally there are some improvements to cmake files such that macOS, linux and windows files are built.

I would appreciate it if users would test these files and advise, so that the files on the OpenCPN download page can be updated. I do not have a mac or linux environment.

The same with this last version.
The exact simple change do work with 1.0.10.

Juancho, I am not having a problem with tactics 1.0.25 using Windows10 and Opencpn 5.0.

To determine what the problem is, would you mind providing the pathname for the polar file, uploading the polar file to this tread, and uploading the appropriate opencpn.ini and opencpn.log files?

Thank you. I don't believe you have adequately described the problem for us to figure out what you are doing. If you wish, just continue using v1.0.10. I am confident that the polar file also works with v1.0.25 in Windows. We need this plugin tested for macOS.

You must use BROWSE to pick the file, and then hit LOAD, and then APPLY or the polar will not be loaded.
Select "Show polar on chart" if that is what you want.
Also select "Show Polar"

I checked opencpn.log several times before, no error nor rare things found on my side ...
Here we go :
pathname of polar files: D:\Documents\Navigation\Polars (D:\ being the second SSD disk)
here is what I did :
Open OPCN, open tactics (1.0.10) change polar file (sunlegend41 to first41s5) ok.
close OPCN
install tactics 1.025
Open OPCN, open tactics (1.0.25) change polar file (first41s5 to sunlegend41) .... NOT OK.
reopen settings check polar file, it doesn't changed, keep on being first41s5 !
close OPCN.

Here are opencpn.ini, opencpn.log corresponding to the above actions, the two polar files.
Note : these actions and polar files are the one I use with 1.0.10 where no problems occurs.
