What is the point to move to 1.0.25 ? What is the changelog ?

As stated earlier:

Quote:
  • Adds an About tab
  • Show the version major.minor.patch number.
  • Improvements to cmake files such that macOS, linux and windows files are built.
We are working towards more a automated process for creation of plugins for all of the OS, but you are not being very cooperative in the testing, quite frankly. Although you are the only one who has bothered to test!

Re: Tactics Plugin

I've been having a play with opencpn-plugin-tactics_1.0.25-ov50.pkg on my MacBook Air running OSX 10.14.4(Mojave) and OpenCPN 5.0.0+9065270 as Rick asked me to test it. It looks great and I'm keen to get out sailing again to give it a proper test now I've got the instruments set up correctly (heel sensor to follow).

Not sure if you want bug reports here but...

I created a "Bearing Compass" which defaulted to a vertical instrument. I wanted to try it in a corner so changed it to be horizontal. It vanished. I went to preferences and changed it back to vertical. It didn't reappear. I restarted OpenCPN. it crashed and now I can't reopen OpenCPN.

Is there a way to run OpenCPN with plugins disabled so I can fix the mess I've created?

Re: Tactics Plugin

As a way out. Edit the config file. Or remove/copy it and start from scratch.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Thanks bcn,

I actually edited the ini file and made the tactics plugin start disabled. I was then able to delete and recreate the bearing compass.

Panic over for now!

Re: Tactics Plugin

Wiggy, that may be a small mac bug. Would you mind reporting in Tracker, under the plugin? Thanks.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Hi,

I just started to excercise with Opencpn on a laptop and tried to get my instruments togther. Tactics does just that.

I found two "peculiarities" I d like some help with:
1 the "from own ship" instrument does not indicate anything sensible. It does not change when I move the cursor.
2 the "wind history" slows the computer down to the point of crashing.

Does anyone have anything sensible to say?

Re: Tactics Plugin

Which version of Tactics pi are you using?
What OS?
How old is the computer?
If you are using Windows, please try
https://github.com/rgleason/tactics_...es/tag/v1.0.13

Yes, from ownship does not seem to work as expected.
Please post a tracker bug.

Re: Tactics Plugin

Sister Moon,
to use the "from ownship instrument" please use the right click popup and select "move ownship here" . Then you will see the ownship instrument respond with the direction and distance.

It does work.

Re: Tactics Plugin

1 about own ship, I tried that. But still. Will have a look again aboard, when there is a real nmea gps signal.
2 thanks. In this new beta version of tactics the wind history seems to work better.

Thanks for your answers.

Re: Tactics Plugin

I have to agree with you. I just tried it again and I am wondering under what conditions did I have it it to think that it worked?

Re: Tactics Plugin

Sister Moon, I have been advised that that instrument is starving of data, to make this simple.
I think that perhaps it should then not be a possible selection and be commented out as it is not really something useful for sailing tactics. As an alternative I suggest you use the Dashboard version.

I will make this request to Thomas, the author, for the next update.
