That is almost exactly what GTK does to build a poly region, and what I was considering as an OCPN implementation. Good news!

But, it seems to be going into the OSX/carbon trunk, not the cocoa trunk.
I'll need to boot MAC and look at this...

With latest code changes in https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN.git a Mac OS X 64-bit version works far better now already. Quilting currently not used however.
