User Manual - Opencpn

Here is an interesting page that appeared recently.

navobj.xml | Official OpenCPN Homepage

Would someone please translate this? --and perhaps we should leave the German version just below the English translation?

Thanks.

PS SEE BELOW. SHOULD geigaros be banned or just revert?

PS We have this page in User Manual still. Why the other page and also why in that location? It makes no sense to me.

Re: User Manual - Opencpn

What is this page for?
St Etienne vs Beitar Jerusalem streaming 17.08.2016 | Official OpenCPN Homepage

It is under the main Opencpn User Documents outline

Under "Revisions" I see
08/17/2016 - 12:32 by Xpnew
current revision 08/17/2016 - 12:16 by midokrevert

What is happening here? Should these folks be bounced off editing?
It is utter nonsense.
Please advise.

Re: User Manual - Opencpn

My German isn't what it used to be.....
It looks like a straight translation from English to German.
I'm sure that some of our native German speaking members will set the record right.
I don't think that anyone should be banned for, what could be a simple mistake.
Simply revert to the latest English version, and enhance with possible real contributions.

opencpn.org now does contains a lot of real garbage produced by people that definitely should be banned. Just look at | Official OpenCPN Homepage. The same holds for the page mentioned by rgleason.
Anyone with the rights to clean this mess should do so - now.

Rick...
Reverted the vandalizing changes you identified, thanks. If you look at the news section of the website as well, it is quite obvious some bots have passed the current captcha check. The moment when we will have to digest Will's absence and the need to also care about the website again is unfortunately here, I think.

Re: User Manual - Opencpn

Yikes,
Thomas, Pavel, can someone make a complete backup of the website NOW?
before we get the pages totally screwed up?

As Pavel Identified the captcha was cracked by bots,
1. Can we identify the Users that are bots and eliminate them?
2. Can we get a better captcha? maybe the photo version or some double confirmation with captcha plus a user phrase, or some thing else that is secure.
3. Should the editing be locked down for Supervisor approval with an entry form required first?? -contrary to the delightfully open approach.
