You do not run them in your browser.

Please read the plugin's User Guide. It takes you around the JavaScript console within the plugin. Download from here as a pdf or here as an epub.

Re: VDR Plugin

Thanks, BCN.
I found a "javascript" plugin in the catalog (not a Java PI, hope they are the same) but it seems I can't install it due to a "checksum error". And I can't find the system log to understand what that is all about.

Re: VDR Plugin

That's usually an indicator of a corrupt download.

Suggestion:

At Options|plug-ins you have at the bottom "settings". Enter and "clear cache".
Try Install again.

Re: VDR Plugin

Thanks again BCN. It looks like my "settings" function is disabled by default. I would have to "add a CatalogExpert=1 in the Plugin session of the configuration file". Again, beyond my level of expertise. I do not even know where this configuration file is located.

Re: VDR Plugin

You are advancing...

The settings and the log file you will access via the "About" or "?" button of the tool bar.
When editing the config file take into acount that OpenCPN should be closed when you save the modified settings. If not, closing OpenCPN would just write back the running settings into the configuration...

Re: VDR Plugin

BCN. Thsnks again for the latest tips. I was able to find the configuration file, do the changes, access the setting function, clear the cache, update the catalog again (the latest version being April 5, 2024 at 02:01) BUT, still getting the same error when loading the "javascript" plugin. Checksum error....

Re: VDR Plugin

Hi Antipole. Thanks for your reply.
Another member of the Forum, BCN, has helped me navigate through the process and I understand the need to use the JaveScript plugin on OpenCPN. However, both BCN and I weren't able to load the plugin using Windows 11 and OpenCPN 5.8.4 with the latest plug-in catalog (April 5, 2024). We are getting a Checksum error message.

Re: VDR Plugin

Whoops - this should not be.

Part of the process of putting the files into the catalogue includes checking that the links are correct and that the checksums check out. Certainly it is correct for MacOS, which I am on.

I will investigate but there will be no solution tonight.

I will get back as soon as possible. I am sorry you have encountered this.

@bdbcat - seems something wrong with this pull. Can you advise. Was it me and how did it slip through?

Re: VDR Plugin

I have raised a plugin issue here.
Let's resolve it there to save cluttering up this thread, which is really about VDR and not the JavaScript plugin.

Antipole

There is nothing to be sorry about. You are doing a great work to help the OpenCPN community. Thank you so much for your time and work.

I will keep an eu in this forum for when it is fixed.

I look forward to using the updated VDR2!!!

Safe winds

Re: VDR Plugin

Needed to have an existing file for recording, to make VDR2 work. It could be empty. Without this the script crashed (On Windows).
