Rick,

You can use VDRplayer.py as it will never not work with any version of O.

Rick...

You say VDR_pi for Windows does not work for you?
More info, please.

@AKA-None...
The OpenCPN plugin-in vdr_pi works on the O5 Beta.

Thanks
Dave

Yes. It is not a plugin. It’s made for testing O by playing an NMEA recording and broadcasting it to many devices including O. It works with any version of O. Even a future version since VDRplayer is IP based. You can even send multiple NMEA streams to O.

Re: VDR Plugin

Sorry for the confusion. I was running gpx text files! That does no work, but running Nmea text files works fine!
When I get launcher_pi running (shortly) I will set up TransmitterDan's python VDR_pi as it make it easier to run various nmea files.

Re: VDR Plugin

Hi All,

I have a question regarding the time handling in VDR when replaying a NMEA message file.

I have a filtered test file which has GPS and time messages every 5 min, e.g.:

$GPGGA,100000.000,5224.2955,N,00453.1880,E,2,09,1. 1,2.9,M,44.1,M,,0000*54
$IIZDA,100000,22,02,2019,,*52
$GPGGA,100500.000,5224.3012,N,00453.1741,E,2,09,1. 1,2.9,M,44.1,M,,0000*58
$IIZDA,100500,22,02,2019,,*57

the replay with the slowest speed just seems to go through the messages in second steps.

Is it correct that time information is not considered?

Another question: is there an existing way to filter NMEA messages (e.g. GPS) and save them to a file with OpenCPN or any other OpenCPN pluging?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Re: VDR Plugin

The VDR plugin is very very basic, it does not care about the timestamps present in some NMEA sentences at all, simply replays one per second at the slowest rate. Whether it is correct or not depends on your personal expectations. Whether it is a problem for you depends on your actual needs.

You can filter the sentences in OpenCPN and save them with the VDR plugin. Filtering you can also apply later with many different tools, for example grep.

Re: VDR Plugin

In addition to using grep or even a text editor like notebook++ on the file itself.

Also I believe VDR_pi Player can play a file and then the nmea stream can filtered by using the Option > Connections window -Look for the filter controls.

Then you can use VDR_pi Recorder to record the output.

I believe NavMonPC can also do this.

OCPN 5.X Version link for the Mac OS X Setup package leads to a "404 Not Found" message.
Wrong link or not yet ready for 5?

Michelle, If it is not there, it hasn't been configured and compiled for MAC. We need more MAC users willing and able to do this. Are you one?

- Need MAC programming skills.

It is likely to be quite awhile before these get done. The main effort is towards getting OpenCPN 4.99 ready.

However it would be very useful to have ov50 VDR_pi working so that Mac users can test other plugins!!

I will send Ptulp a note, perhaps he can help us out here, but he is quite busy.

Rick,

my guess was it already has been compiled when I look at the link:
http://opencpn.navnux.org/O5Plugins/...n_0.4-ov50.pkg

I wish, but very sorry. I hardly remember some very basic Basic skills ;-)

That's why I was asking. I've everything ready but want to check out with my own data.

You have tried this link below?
http://opencpn.navnux.org/O5Plugins/VDR-Plugin_0.4.pkg

Maybe the other link has a typo?
