version 5.2.4+6b314e6 does not show charts

I have used open CPN for several years, on a few different computers. A couple of months ago, I downloaded a new version on a friend's computer. It is version 5.2.4+6b314e6. I can't seem to get any charts to show.

I have downloaded a few different NOAA chart files, in both RNC & ENC format. I have done a database update & full database rebuild.

I was reading about chart groups in the FAQ & was thinking that perhaps I need to select a group to make the charts active. Unfortunately, when I click on the page as indicated in the FAQ, the menu that comes up does not have the option for chart groups at the bottom of the list. I find 9 options in that menu, rather than the 11 options shown in the FAQ. This is the FAQ page in question - file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/OpenCPN/doc/charts/chart_groups_tab.html

I have charts in two different file areas. The first is C:/users/gina/onedrive/documents/charts. The other is C:/users/public/manualchartdownloads.

Could it be that I have a flawed installation and the chart groups function is not working? (seems unlikely)

Am I doing something else wrong? (seems more likely)

Any useful suggestions would be appreciated. I seem to be missing something here.

First chart groups can be selected by
- right click on the canvas and go to "chart groups"
- second with short cut keys: "1" selects group 1, "2" the second one etc. and most important "0" will select all installed charts.


How do the chart directory entries look like under Options|Charts?
Can you paste a screen shot here?


And enable chart outlines - the "O" (ooh) short cut. Will give you an idea of the installed charts without showing any detail in case of not having zoomed in sufficiently.

Chart Group did not come up on the canvas menu.

I did a fresh chart download using the plugin, rather than manually downloading the charts, as I have done in the past, with older versions of the software. It now works.

I'm having the same problem - on 2 PC's one with Windows and the other with Linux versions of OpenCPN version 5.2.4......
